Hacking Ewin2 Compatability

Due to the many many many issues involving the Ewin2 and homebrew, I think it's about time we have a place dedicated to sharing problems and solutions of COMPATABILITY

To get the ball rolling, here are a few brews of the home that I have personally tested and are working awesomely to the max.

SCUMMVM - Woot! Works like a charm. Acquired -Day of the Tentacle- through 'usual means' and I could not be happier with how it turned out.
DSDoom - Took me a while but works. Make sure you have the .wad of Doom or Doom II and follow the readme.
A Touch of War - No probs here. Fantastic piece of homemade homebrew if I may say so myself.
NesterDS 0.3 - A working Nes emulator, hazzah! Enjoy your 20 year old NES games on the go!
DSMasterPlus - Working Master System emoolaethor. Enjoy your 20 year old MS games on the fly!

Here ends the line of goodness and the start of evil killer apps of death.

Lameboy 0.8 - I'm not getting any sound no matter what I do and it's supposed to have got it now.
SnesDS - Black screen when game is opened.
SNEmulDS - Cannot select a rom to open when they are listed.
Snezzids - Pretty much this happens -->

LemmingsDS - Can't do anything at game type selection screen.
TowerDefense - Stops loading halfway through when opened.
PicoDriveDS - Stuck on a screen with Save State - Load State on it.

Ewin stated that all its NDS Roms have 100% compatability. I would say that it was more of a 96% compat. A few of them have problems, mainly in the saving department.

Ultimate Spider-Man - Freezes as soon as it displays 3-D graphics.
Superman Returns - White screen of pure death.
Save files - Constant ask for save files if you happen to forget one and sometimes in a game it will freeze when saving for no particular reason.

Feel free to add a list

. I've tried to keep the clean list roughly up to date so it shouldn't be too much work to make it into a proper ewin2 list (not sure what the current settings and etc. are for the ewin cards). You do need to be registered to create a list though (not to edit one)

BEWARE! The reason PicoDriveDS isn't working is because it continuously presses the 'X' button, which is the save/load state menu. jEnesisDS works but it does the same thing, rendering some games useless. Hexen has the same problem, making you jump all over the place. As well as others that I am unaware of. Is there anyone with any solutions or suggestions for this based on vast experience?

Ultimate Spiderman works fine for me, what mini/micro sd card you have?

Not tried Superman Returns but the latest ewin firmware and NDS Tool claim full compatibility (minus the Opera Browser obviously).

Not had any save issues personally so can't really comment on that.

And yeah ewin2 sucks for homebrew.

I'm using a 4gb kingston mini SD, but since it worked for you then I probably just had a dud rom.

I've tried a few Spidey roms in different languages but to no avail. The rom that worked for you, what was its number/info?

This is the main reason homebrew is so bad. There has got to be some simple reason for this...

Okay, I found a way to work around the Spider problem.

When it first loaded the battle between Peter and Venom, it froze after a few seconds for no reason. So I paused it and quit to the main menu. It was fine after that except that every time I quit and reloaded the game, it froze at the menu. But after finishing a bit of the game, it no longer freezes. Problem solved. So I guess it is 100% compat.....for now.

I already DLDI patched, but it just didn't work

Yeah I got the same problem when I tried a different version of Moonshell. There's a lang.ini here but you may have to find out how to make it work... http://mdxonlinemirror.dyndns.org/resource...ay_lang_eng.zip

If the DSOrganize from the list doesn't work, write down the exact problem.

I just deleted all of the Moonshell files on my SD-card. If I now load Moonshell, after some time it will freeze. The last thing it says is "Initialize random speed.". Oh, and it doesn't matter whether I use A or Y to start.

"Initialize random speed."? Can't help you there. Try googleing for some moonshell guides.

Attention!
A common fault in homebrew is that the touch screen won't work and it continually presses X, rendering them obsolete. There doesn't seem to be any reason other than the DLDI is causing it.
