Hacking everybody votes channel wants me to update and set region...

hey, today i updated via this nice guide to 4.2J, and so i think everything should be up to date.
when i go to use everybody votes channel, it tells me to set my region, and to update?
same with wii no aida.
everything else seems to work fine.
so, me being at 4.2, i clicked on update in the wii settings, and it started! (i thought it would just say, 'wii up to date' or something, and then the channels would work...)
i quickly powered it down, and nothing went wrong. but still, what would have happened if it let the progress bar finish?
would it re-install the stubs and stuff, and remove the trucha and cios things? but, i am at 4.2, so i don't know how it still thinks i can possibly update.

if anyone knows what file i have to update, please tell

have you tried deleting it and redownloading from the shop channel

no, but when i downloaded wii no aida (don't know the english name) from the shop, the same thing happens.
-edit. just checked, it's a japan only channel (pretty sure)

Everybody Votes Channel is not only a Japan Channel

yeah i know, that is why i called it 'everybody votes channel' and not the japanese name

i was talking about 'wii no aida', but i have the problem with BOTH channels.

what would happen if i update via nintendo and do what they want me to do?
what is the worst that could happen?

you would have to rehack your wii cause of stubb IOS's and probably no trucha in any IOS


have you updated your IOS's through dop-ios???

but i mean, it wouldn't brick me? because my system menu ios (70 i think) is patched, does this mean the nintendo updater will re-install it?

not sure about 70 but 249, 202, 222 and 223 will probably be stubbed

This is why I installed a cIOS in an unused IOS slot and left it installed as such so I can easily repatch my wii if I should need to.

well it's not much effort to re-patch, and i would rather conform to the 'standard'.
i was just going to update, but i'm getting connection errors lol...

damn, just lost what i wrote here, i refreshed by accident

anyway, it reinstalled the stubs, removed 249, kept bootmii and priiloader. maybe did some other stuff

but now the channels work! i think that you have to update once for your wii to ask you where you live in your region, and because i had never been asked, i could not use the two channels i was trying to.
so i updated, took like 3 minutes, gave me some message about parental control, then i went to the everybody votes channel, and it made me choose the city in japan where i 'live' lol, and now it is all fine

do you guys remember when you choose what city/area you live in? was it after you updated? whatever... i got it working, i'll see if i can remove the stubs and put back 249 and keep it working, i assume so.
