Hello, I'm having a trouble with my wii.

Atm I am using a modchip (wiikey clone or something like that), 4.2u waninkoko wad.
If I try to play from disc channel, I should play games with trucha, removing manually error 001 and 002. Then I got no lucky with new super mario bros, so i tried to softmod.

Installed NeoGamma R8 RC1 with IOS249 also cIOSx rev19 but I still getting error 001 even playing through backup channel.

What I've done wrong so far?

Thanks.

Try cIOSrev13a and if that doesn't help try rev 7(not 17!). It's a known issue with bad modchips that the 001 error prevention of the newer cIOS doesn't work.

I've used the cIOSrev13a and apparentely it worked with mario kart without trucha. But still with error #001 for new super mario bros!

Your chip can't "fix" 001 error. Well to be correct, your chip can't fool the 001 check. To get rid of it, get cIOS rev 7(again, yes 7 not 17), it has a 100% working solution for 001 error, no matter if your chip messes it up or not.

Even if I can play few games in neogamma that contains 001 error? I don't know why can I play few games that contains error #001 and only New super mario bros that I can't.

I mean if i install cIOS rev7, i will for sure play the game 'New super mario bros'?

Thanks again!

Now I'm trying to install rev7, but I've got the following errors:

If I try by sd card install: ret = -1035
if I try by network install: ret = -1

For cios rev 7 put IOS36 ( v1042 i believe ? ) on the root of your sd card and do a wad installation. Make sure you pick a trucha'd IOS for install.

The method you use doesn't really matter, as long as it works.

-1035 means downgrade attempt, but downgrade not allowed
-1, means a lot of lot or nothing. Most likely your Wii is not connected to the internet? But you would get -1035 once that's fixed.

Use Trucha Bug Restorer 1.12 to get a(or 2) full patched IOS36. If the cIOS installer doesn't allow you to select the IOS it is using during the installation it's using IOS249 or IOS36, so you need to have a full patched IOS there.

I'm not quite sure about how to do this but can I install a full patched IOS36 with DOP-Ios?
If not I should use NUSD to download the IOS36 v. 1042 and then patch it using Trucha Bug Restorer 1.12, right? Then I shall install it and so then I can install the rev7?

Thanks guys

It's the ignore version of titles patch of Trucha Bug Restorer 1.12 you need to get rid of the -1035 error. If another program offsers the same patch, you can use that instead of course.

Ok, I downgraded all of my IOS with IOS Downgrader sucessfully. Then I did try to install the rev7 and still with -1035 error.

I have to install Neogamma using the IOS 36 v. 1042 instead of IOS 249 and then I should try to install the cIOS rev7?

I've no hope anymore

Can anyone help please?

Or just tell me what I've done/doing wrong?

I'm not quite expert about the IOS and cIOS but I read about it everywhere to get close it.

I have an idea.
Instead of having to install cIOS249 rev7, just...

...burn your iso onto a Verbatim DVD+R (NOT DVD-R) and make sure it is booktyped to DVD-ROM (A DVD+R MUST be booktyped to DVD-ROM to work with the Wii).

Then try it out.

Error 001 is caused by the game seeing that it is burned onto a DVD-R instead of being on a DVD-ROM.

So, booktyping a DVD+R to DVD-ROM when burning will make the game see it's on a DVD-ROM, and the game will not give error 001 (AFAIK you can only set the booktype of DVD+Rs, but not on DVD-Rs).

But what I cannot understand is that I can play Mario Kart, Boom Blox, Mario Galaxy 1 even with DVD-R's and not using wiiscrubber to remove the error #001 manually.

Again, install a full patched IOS36 as IOS36 and IOS249, and then run the rev7 installer again.

And why does nobody listen when i explain what's causing the 001 error?

001 error:
The game checks if it's able to read data that can't be written on the disc, because it would be on the 2nd(3rd) layer, but it's a single(DL) disc. If the drive reports a success on this attempt, the game knows something is fishy.

What happens in more detail(IOS + retail disc):
Game calls IOS to read data that doesn't exist
IOS calls the drive for this data
drive tries to read the data and returns an error

IOS + backup disc + modchip:
Game calls IOS to read data that doesn't exist
IOS calls the drive for this data
the chip intercepts the command, sees that the data is not on the disc and returns the error

ancient cIOS(rev7) + backup disc:
Game calls IOS to read data that doesn't exist
the cIOS sees that the data is not supposed to be on the 1st layer and returns an error(which is why rev7 doesn't have DL support)

old cIOS(rev8-13b) + backup disc:
The 001 check is patched in the main.dol to always return the correct error code ==> 001 error check is passed(only works with the old version of the 001 error, because nobody knows the patch pattern for the newer 001 errors)
And this happens with these cIOS + the new 001 error:
Game calls IOS to read data that doesn't exist
IOS calls the drive for this data
drive tries to read the data and whyever returns success(i really don't know why, but it does)

new cIOS(rev14+):
Game calls cIOS to read data that doesn't exist
cIOS did identify the disc type(DVD5 or DVD9) earlier
cIOS sees that the data couldn't be on the disc and returns the correct error without nagging the drive

Now on some modchips the disc type identification from the cIOS doesn't work, because the chip returns some wrong value for some drive command the cIOS uses, and that's why only cIOSrev7 helps on these chips when encountering a game with the new 001 error
