What do you guys think about the engrish (bad English) on websites and flashcarts?
Personally, I think it is really bad. Even if the product isn't legitimate in a way, it still needs some proper English.
It's on almost every flashcart, "download the soft r4 with features soft boot reset"

It seems unprofessional but isn't really that bad...well, except for in the bad ending of Phoenix Wright: Justice For All...google/play it and you'll see O_O (It's actually become a meme among us Ace Attorney fans)

I've always wondered if they could hire a fluent translator to work alongside whoever creates their manuals and package design to make a proper English version... but then that would require the translator to be paid, and two different packages being produced, OR cramming two proper languages onto one package design...

In the end, I'm personally okay with it, as long as I can put two and two together to figure out what it means. If the Engrish is mangled beyond English comprehension, however, then it just starts to look cheap and not worth my money...

THE MIRACLE NEVER HAPPEN.

That by definition is an inside joke. a meme is universal.

Not necessarily, Objection has become a meme and yet Igiari (Which is replaced by Objection in the English version, but does not translate to it) is not, therefore Objection doesn't necessarily carry universal appeal.

I think engrish funny and is one of the pleasant surprises of our little hobby. Where else are you going to get gems like "out of the burning" (which translates to "new", I think) and the legendary:

Acekard

The Real Ultimate Experience in Your Hand

better than J.O.ing? Swish!

I still smile every time I see that classic slogan;

"Enjoy Yourself!

All Pleasure In It!"

as I load up a game.

Also, if you wanna see some of the best engrish in a game, EVER, look at hong kong 97 for the SNES.

and, though it's not really AS engrish-y, for teh nightmare fuel,

Google Translate isn't perfect guys.

For this reason, I think they should hire an 8 year old child who speaks English to do their translating. They could get a better translator and pay it in cheap, knock-off candy.

They often just copy-paste, and don't even speak english, so they don't know the stuff they're taking from other sites isn't done properly.
True. The Chinese place an emphasis on frugality above all else. Hiring a competent translator is not top on the priority list -- profit margin is.

Fixed that for you.

i do a lot of design in the arab world and we hire professional translators and even then there are contextual/cultural mistakes to the translations. it's very hard to deal with.
