How far is the NDS scene from using the DSi SD compatibility in creating a softmod?
I am pretty sure this will take sometime as the chinese would not take to this kindly! (pretty sure they are the ones delaying this feature)

Actually that would be nice. A softmod would be the only way for the DSi to be as good as the original DS...

I have been so caught up with Flash Carts I forgot about softmods. Softmods kick ass...

The majority of flash cards are produced/developed in china. China has an influence over the "scenes," whether it be it NDS, psp, or xbox, they are there trying to set boundaries. Money talks, well actually it keeps individuals who are creating softmods silent

Take the recent xbox360 scene, now thats just havoc.
Now, I am not to familiar with the NSD scene, but are you going to stand there and tell me that you are able to execute unsigned codes via slot1 and slot2, but unable to execute unsigned codes via the sd slot
Think of the wii, before you jump to conclusions.

DSi has some pretty big protection on it. We can't make a homebrew channel to run unsigned code without the DSi common key which Hackmii are trying to make it spew out to them and before that we need some firmware exploit that will allow us into DSi mode to install it.

Basically: Don't jump to conclusions

maybe he meant japanese? as in nintendo? hmmm well if not then surely he means the several manufacturers of ds and dsi flashcarts which are based in china for the most part.

Not really...I mean just because all of our toys are made in China doesn't mean the Chinese dominate the toy industry. It just means it's cheaper to make toys there. People in America or in other countries are actually coming up with the ideas. This is similar for flashcarts and hacking too.

It's not worse than the wii except for the fact that they fixed an major holes in the wii's security. It's not like they upgraded the security/made it harder they just made it have less easily useable exploits.

It's for storing music, photos, and dsiware.

Yes that's correct, you can only play it on the DSi. However if you want to backup your dsiware for some reason you can store it on your SD card.

Yes that's correct, you can only play it on the DSi. However if you want to backup your dsiware for some reason you can store it on your SD card.

Although I can't seem to find what the actual 1.4 Firmware update adds? I mean is there any point in even updating?

You can access the shop channel to get any dsiware (they came out with a good free one called Flipnote, it's pretty cool), the internet browser supposedly goes faster (you also need to access the shop to get that, it's free too), and you can now upload pictures taken on the DSi directly to facebook.

I just realized I am in trouble. I checked my firmware version, and it seems my DSi shipped with 1.4E

Do you still have to find a DSi that is version 1.3 or lower first THEN it works on a 1.4 DSi? :S Can it be a DSLite aswell? I could borrow that from a friend

No it's fine, this topic is open for all kinds of DSi help.

If you have an acekard2i, as long as you can run it on some sort of DS (DS Phat, DS Lite, DSi 1.3) then you can update it for 1.4.

I got another question though! What other things are good to get? I ordered the Hori Protector from Deal Extreme, and some aliminium/silicion/cloth protectors. (wanna see which one I like the most xP)

Although according to comments on Deal Extreme it takes AGES for them to get in the Hori screen protectors, some people have been waiting for months. Do you know any other places that have the geniuine ones and ship to Europe?

When I ordered from Deal Extreme they came relatively quick.

However the Hori DSi case I ordered from playasia (I ordered it in June) just only got here in November. Also if you want to see it I should have a review for the case up soon, so keep your eye out for that.

Oh and with the 1.4, what colors are your DSi's? Because it has been confirmed that the newer colors (Pink and Blue I think...can't remember exactly) come with 1.4 but not the older colors.
