I GOT A 100+ HIT COMBO BY HOLDING RIGHT AND MASHING THE WEAK ATTACK BUTTON
How do you manage a 100 hit combo when it only takes on average eight to nine hits to K.O. the opponent.
Anyway, saying it "sucks" doesn't make it suck for anyone but you. I played some more of it, and it's decent. I've played enough fighters in my life to know when a game is broken, and though this game is far from being a great fighter, it's a competent handheld game. I think you just have issues with inputting quarter circle, half circle and dragon punch commands, and therefore you want to blame it on the game. If you were expecting console-quality fighting on DS, then you were deluding yourself. Otherwise, again, it's competent, so far as I can tell by the little I've played of it. To me, it offers the same level of amusement I would expect out of a homebrew fighter, and for free, really, what more could you possibly demand from the game?
I'm not sure what damage setting you have the game set on, but on the default damage setting, the life bar moves very, very slowly. At least for Stin, who I was using. Can't speak for someone like Big.
But I don't have any problems playing any other fighting games. I'm a quite active player of Guilty Gear, Melty Blood, JUS and the Bleach DS games, so you argument that I just suck at the game is pretty void.
QUOTE(SABERinBLUE @ Jun 13 2010, 01:12 PM) Well what you have to understand is that when a game this bad comes out it's offensive to fans of the genre. Here's how it goes:
1. Company makes shit game in Japan.
2. Everyone laughs at how shit the game is.
3. Company brings game to the US even though it's utterly shit.
4. Idiots who don't know anything about fighting games call it a good game.
and here's the feared result:
5. COMPANIES MAKE MORE SHIT GAMES.
You see? Having a game this bad is an insult to the entire genre and people who actually like the genre feel an obligation to loudly and viciously attack it and everyone who's dumb enough to like it, for fear of this type of badness becoming a trend in future games. When this game came out in Japan we all played the rom for ten minutes and the laughed at how horrible it was, but now it's gotten a US release so we're on edge like "wait, this kind of shit game is commercially viable? Oh no!"
If you like this game YOU ARE WRONG. Hell, I like plenty of shit games. I like Yoda Stories and I'm wrong. Yoda Stories is one of the worst games I've ever played and I still like it for some stupid reason. I'll stomach a lot of mediocre to shitty Star Wars games just because I'm a Star Wars fan. But it's okay, because I know which ones are actually good and which ones I'm just playing because I like the franchise.
Long story short, there's a reason for this hate. We're not trying to make ourselves feel better; we know what makes our genre good. What we're trying to do is make sure everyone ELSE knows what makes our genre good so they don't make it shitty.
