Yes, but you will need to verify the disc first, which means that you will need access to a backward compatible Wii at least once. Devolution has anti-piracy protection.

EDIT: Actually, I'm not sure if the disc drives in newer Wii consoles can read GameCube discs or not (I think I remember hearing that some can). You could try to verify the disc on the non-backward compatible Wii first. However, if it doesn't work, your easiest bet for verification is probably to verify it with a Wii that has backwards compatibility.

There's another project called Nintendont, which can play GC games using a Dualshock 3 or another controller with an HID adapter on Wii U and newer Wiis, but i don't know if crediar is still working on this, few weeks ago i heard that the project was dead
