I've heard rumours on the internet a beta version of this is available. Can anyone confirm this as being more than just a rumour?

Reading more on the rumour, its not a beta its been leaked. Can a mod change the topic title to reflect this please.

I sold the original N64 version on eBay for £43 a while back and same day got it for 49p...nice.

Anyway wasn't that bothered about this, the original felt a tad unbalanced for me but I dunno I'm quite looking forward to it as each day comes, the Wi-fi, track building, custom-made vehicles, new modes, weapons and challenges and all that is quite appealing.

Pretty much, a version of Sonic got leaked from E3.. So its them kinda conventions that things can get stolen/leaked, or from developers.
