A couple of things I have to question & I apologize if these have already been asked....
  1. What is the game compatibility; Is there a list online?
  2. Can games be stored on usb or sd; what is recommended format for both?
I think this will be sweet if I can play my final fantasy lol not that I don't have a DS but yeah!

The difficulty is mostly related to the motivation. Being the last Nintendo emulator to be added, I'm sure someone will try in a near future.
Ask ECSS nicely, maybe he'd like the challenge.

My guess as a very amateur programmer: the new code they're using is similar to the code that the main branch(for Win/Mac/Linux) of desmume uses, so any time the newer main branch updates, it should be easy to incorporate updates for the Wii?

So who wants to compile DeSmuME Wii themselves?

Prerequisites
  • DevkitPPC + libogc included with that
  • Required libraries: https://docs.google....RXRvbXdROElwbkk (these are a bunch of libraries required. you can go find each one yourself or say thank you for me finding all the required ones and packing them nicely in a zip)
  • A subversion client (sudo apt-get install subversion for debian/ubuntu, and you may need apache, or tortoiseSVN for windows)
  • The source. Make a folder called something like "desmumewii", open a command line in that folder, then
step 1:

Code:
svn checkout http://desmumewii.googlecode.com/svn/branches/GCC-Update

Step 2: Merge the required libraries with your current devkitpro folder. It should look something like

Code:
/devkitPro/portlibs
/devkitPro/libogc
/devkitPro/examples
/devkitPro/devkitPPC

Step 3: Then navigate to to the folder you just checked out. Ensure you see "makefile". Open a command line in that folder, and type

Code:
svn up
make clean
make

Step 4: After a long list of compiling and errors, you should see the relieving

linking ... GCC-Update.elf
output ... GCC-Update.dol

at the very end (or something similar)

Step 5: Shout for joy
Step 6: ???
Step 7: Profit!

Holy Smokes I can't believe I found an active thread about this - Sorry for the noob question - but I just installed the latest version of DesmumeWii and... How the crap do I get to a settings menu? Just trying to change any settings to help with the speed issue on some games like New Super Mario Bros. Thanks!

You can look at the changelog to see what was wrong.
It was a problem that the SVN client didn't update the changes correctly and put SVN client data into the source code.

His SVN client didn't merge his changes very nicely. I'm wondering why he only changed mc.h though, the whole trunk was borked :P

There's nothing new in r250. If you have r249, you're up-to-date.
Explanations on the previous page of this thread. Also a little tutorial to compile by Shano56 if you really want the latest rev.
