I wanted to start a discussion about the possibility to use the same x86 recompilation method developed by Mr. Wiseguy to have native support for N64 games on the Wii instead of the current emulators?

I've lacking knowledge in this field but I think it could be really neat if the N64 roms could be recompile to work natively on the Wii's processors.

What do you all think?

Can be done, hopefully the recompiler doesn't rely on too much x86 specific code so that it can be ported to PowerPC, SH4 CPUs and others

Amazing, I'm crossing my fingers that someone more code savvy will take on the challenge of porting the project to the Wii! It would make the versatility of the Wii even greater than it already is!

Beating those emulation overheads would really work wonders for the Wii.
I believe recompiling the n64 binary is only one step of the problem. the recompiled binary then requires both a runtime and a graphics renderer - on PC, these are N64ModernRuntime and RT64 respectively. So someone would have to make a native Wii implementation for both of these.
That's always the rub. Porting isn't always as simple as cross-compiling, especially if you don't have preexisting drivers.

Another cool thing for this (in general, not Wii specific) would be 3DS homebrew for connecting the VC Pokémon games to ports of Stadium and Stadium 2.
