I played REmake and Zero with Wii controller and nunchuk, it was better feeling than GC controller for me, and GC controller is more comfy than dual shock 3 from Sony. Looks can deceive you, they do all the testing after all so you have to try it and see. 3DS (old) is also OK, although it looks it could cramp your hands easily.

I guess wiiubricker is correct but than again it seems i was right with the controller beeing Bad

Before I get to shitting on the Joy-Con, the Switch controllers all use digital triggers so GameCube games which use analogue triggers will have to be reprogrammed to use digital triggers. Now, what's so bad about the Joy-Con controllers? The D-PAD if you can call it that is absolutely terrible, tiny and uncomfortable, and so are the buttons and shoulder buttons / triggers so much so that I waited specifically to play Zelda with the Pro Controller which is absolutely a masterpiece of a controller!

To get into more depth about why the Joy-Cons suck so bad, the analogue stick is very stiff and hardly moves so you're left without the liberty of an actual proper controller's analogue sticks.

The Switch Pro Controller reminded me a lot of the Xbox One Controller and I am very pleased with it. I have nothing against it (okay, it's a bummer it doesn't have analogue triggers but not a deal-breaker), instead, I wish they'd bundle it with Switch consoles as it's the one to go controller to use with the Switch.

The Pro Controller is also partly transparent so you can see the hardware of it. Nintendo really went the extra mile with this controller! :)

I wonder why noone has made a thread about it yet ...
For me it looks like the Controller will be VERY uncomfortable.

Even when it is stuck together it looks kind of small and weirdly shaped but if you take them off and have this thing in your hand which looks like you have to search for it with a microscope (yeah I know I am overdoing it a little) I doub't it feels good to have those in your hand and try to controll the game with it.

Like if you sweat a little and it slips around in your hand you would have more work not letting it fall out of your hand than anything else ...

I'd probably only buy the Switch if there are classic controller or I could test the controller and see for myself that it is not half as bad as I assume it to be

How do you know ? Many people experienced it over there said that it is very comfortable because they felt it. You need to wait until you feel it and give your opinion again. :)

I thought the Joy-Cons with the controller handle would be better but no, it is what it is. You get what you pay for and it's not great, well, not at least for gamers who're used to actual good gaming controllers.

Are the Joy-Cons totally required for the Switch to function properly or can I use the Pro Controller only?

If the latter, then I could sell the Joy-Cons and use that for the Pro Controller.

None of the systems you speak of are uncomfortable. It's just you.

Anyway don't really care what the joycons feel like, i won't be using them. Hopefully Pro Controller support is system wide.
Speak for yourself. The Gameboy SP was incredibly uncomfortable and the original 3DS was as well in my experience.

If you do, I'd be interested in buying them for a price lower than retail

I'm pissed that they're so expensive, but they do look good for me as a semi-casual player

I agree they look wonderful minitatures but the usability is the issue here. Let's say you bought it and then you'd be like "Oh god, why did I buy them?!". :P

The joycon grip is surprisingly comfortable but smaller in size than I expected. The buttons are also quite small.

However in my 20 mins playing BOTW I adjusted fast and didn't really think about it after the first 5 mins.

The only thing I hated about the Switch controllers (minus the Pro) is the lack of a dpad. I understand the reasoning but it will make VC and 2D titles a nightmare.

Nintendo always makes their controllers with Japanese people in mind and do the testing with Japanese people hence why people with very small hands like the controllers but the majority who doesn't have super tiny hands don't like them.

  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
never had that i don't think
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
