I'm fairly certain I'm using the v48.dol version. I don't believe that is making much difference to my particular problem, which is the Wii not detecting the drive at all (or am I mistaken?), but it's good to know that I can test another drive with just a FAT32 partition.
IOS222 does seem to have better drive compatibility than IOS249, so it may work better (although you'll get a similar effect by adding "ios=222-mload" to config.txt).

Well, this is where I'm at now: I tried my other external HDD (Drive B), and it detected fine. I installed the same cIOS as the one on my Wii (cIOS 36 rev 10) to my sisters Wii (Wii B) and it now detects my original drive. Evidently, cIOS 38 rev 15 does not like my drive, but cIOS 36 rev 10 does. Who woulda thunk it?

Also, I tried using ios=222-mload before I changed cIOS 38 rev 15 to cIOS 36 rev 10, with no success. I also tried cIOS 38 rev 14, with no success there either.

I have 2 problems, please have a look and solve it if you can.

Problem 1: Problem with cIOS 222/223 all combination rev4, when turn off at loader menu without running a game, where it would flashes if your wii is on standby, as if it is still trying to load a disc/usb drive. Using all versions of usb loaders. No problems with cIOS 249/250 rev15, so therefore loading cios 249 first would fix it, but that's not proper. Can the loader force the cIOS to stop running on standby ?

Problem 2: WBFS file manager, the one wrote by oggzee rips games fine, but file seems to be abit larger than the config usb loader. Using same game and same drive on both fat 32 and wbfs with all games partitions except for garbage data.
EX: Super Smash Bros. Brawl with config usb it would have a size of 6.93GB, and 7.14GB with the WBFS file manager. Any other windows based that would give me smallest possible file size ?

About free space, it doesn't freeze, just takes very long time

That is why the -fat version has showing of free space on fat disabled by default in the console mode game list.
(but yes in the install screen it still shows it)

Is there an edit I can add that will make Config USB Loader default to the game list instead of the "game case" view?
in the read me file you should find everything, for example

# gui = [1], 0, start
# Enable or disable GUI mode.
# Using gui = start will start directly in GUI mode when loader is started.

so my guess is that you want it to be "gui = 1"

pdawg17, that goes into config.txt. Check out the Configurator (found in the InSDRoot/USB-Loader folder of Cfg v48 release or click the link in my sig) for help on changing that and other options.

cfg v49a
cfg49a.dol
cfg49a-fat.dol
(or online update)

Changes:
* Games on SDHC with IOS 222/223 for both FAT or WBFS partition
* Games in subdirs on FAT: /wbfs/GAMEID_TITLE/GAMEID.wbfs
option: fat_install_dir = [0], 1
* Rename old boot.dol to boot.dol.bak when upgrading
* If the loader is used to start a game directly
(from a channel created with crap or similar tools)
and option: intro=0 is specified then no intro
and no progress is displayed until the game is started
* Support for .wip game patches (by WiiPower)
Loaded from: sd:/usb-loader/GAMEID.wip (text format)
* Support for BCA data (by Hermes)
Loaded from: sd:/usb-loader/GAMEID.bca (binary data of size 64 bytes)
(updated dip plugin from uloader 3.2)
* option: disable_nsmb_patch=[0],1 will disable the builtin nsmb patches
(in case someone wants to use/test the external .wip patch or .bca data)
* Enable WiiRD if usb gecko is connected and ocarina is enabled
even if not codes are found (by Rfrf)
* Ocarina url fix: /R/ID6 instead of /ID1/ID6 (for SNM*)

Let me add that I have only briefly tested it, and the last 5 changes are not tested at all. So, happy bug hunting

New version of the Configurator with v49a's new options is out:
http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=174...t&p=2425339

oggzee didn't mention that the fat_install_dir option only determines where the loader installs games to. The loader will read games both with and without directories regardless of the value of the new option. Also, if you aren't using a titles.txt, this also increases your menu loading speed as it will use the title you specify within the directory name.

Can you quote an example of "GAMEID_TITLE"? Do you mean xxxx_TITLE/xxxx.wbfs ?

fat:/wbfs/SMNP01_New_Super_Mario_Bros._Wii/SMNP01.wbfs

Edit: I added the underscores in the title as I assume oggzee used the same name as when generating the text file. It might actually use spaces if you're lucky.

If I read this right, this loader allows for themes. I have added an option to add themes to my website which I can also offer an XML feed for the loader makers so they can implement a theme downloader in the software. Feel free to head on over to http://wii.spiffy360.com/index.php and post your themes for the loader.

So I think I'll move from disks to USB loading...
What do you guys recommend, external HDDs?

I think a 500GB external HDD would be perfect, right?
Which brand? Those tiny Western Digital ones seem nice and cheap.

In response to the latest version of CFG, I will have to rewrite some code in the Simple WBFS File Manager to handle recursing subdirectories and working out some of the bugs I caused implementing the various new features. So, the next version will be delayed probably till sometime next weekend.

Some of the new things that you can expect:
Cover support
Export functionality, for both selected items and All items
Settings panel, so you can save your preferences
Options to allow which partitions to copy when performing conversion and copy operations
The ability to choose the language of titles.txt to download

A bunch of other stuff you will just have to wait till I release to find out

Good job Oggzee, make everyone happy and make me work j/k

It's so worth it. I just picked up the WD Elements Portable 500 GB for only $60 but that was a Black Friday deal. I recommend this over the new WD Passport Essential. The Elements is just a little bigger in physical size (12% in volume) but the new Essential has this Virtual CD software that takes up space and a partition. There's no way to remove it as of yet. However, you can still find the older Essential on Amazon which doesn't have that. Try searching for that model number in particular. The new one has a different one.
