You could go for iOS 5.0. I'd say that it's more favorable for iOS 5.0 to get untethered since 4.3.5 is no longer being signed, and 5.0 has a lot of features that everybody would like. (…All right, I will probably always hate the PC-free idea, but I digress.)

Wait, to my understanding, even if you save your iOS 5 shsh blobs, you can't even restore forwards?

So, for example, I'm on 4.1, but when a 5.0 jb comes out, Apple pushes 5.1, and I'm not on 5.0 yet. Does that mean I can't restore forwards to 5.0 even if I have the blobs?

In that case, I'll go semi-tethered iOS 5

SHSHs are still around. But with iOS 5.0, Apple added nonces, so replay attacks (i.e.- TinyUmbrella) can't be performed. Once Apple stops signing iOS 5.0, there's (currently) no way to go back to 5.0.

Can I unlock my 3GS 4.2.... or 5.... without playing with the bootrom?
Because I just got a new 3GS from apple since the old one blocked on the sim card problem with the update of ios 5....

Thanks.

I'm not quite sure what you're asking, but iOS 5.0 on the iPhone 3GS can still be unlocked with baseband 06.15.00 and ultrasn0w.

I tried installing Ultrasnow and putting the other carrier sim card but it still dont work.
Maybe it's because when I instal Ultrasnow they give me the error: could not activate data (something like that)

Can your device be jailbroken?
tl;dr Version: Not unless you have an iPad 2 with iOS 4.3.4 or newer installed, or an iPhone 4S.

Don't you mean "unless"? Otherwise you're saying those are the only devices that can be jailbroken.

Fixed. :)

Also, iOS 5.0.1 is out, and fixes a bug that's useful for an untethered jailbreak. If you are on 5.0 already and would like an untethered jailbreak, don't update yet!

About this.

I just found I have baseband 05.16.05, anything I can do with that to unlock it?

No, you can't do anything unless you update your BB to 06.15 using RedSn0w

How do I do that? Is it the thing with ipad baseband?
Thanks

Yes, they're the same thing. Take care when using baseband 06.15.00, though; it's an irreversible process (you cannot downgrade the baseband), and you will encounter an error (that can be bypassed) when updating/restoring to stock firmwares.

When I try selecting the correct ispw(3GS 5.0.1) in redsnow it pop an error message saying it's not supported by this redsnow version.
I have the beta8 version.

Any ideas?
Thanks.

Try pointing it to iOS 5.0 for the 3GS. For some odd reason, redsn0w was not updated to recognize the public release of iOS 5.0.1.
