Developer Fallen Leaf's upcoming cinematic sci-fi adventure Fort Solis launches later this month. Ahead of its release, the team has aired a new trailer today titled 'Dark side of the Red Planet' that sets the game's tone and provides a glimpse at the gameplay.

This latest trailer showcases the pitch, setting and characters that make up Fort Solis, with an intro by lead actor Roger Clark (Arthur Morgan in Red Dead Redemption 2). As engineer Jack Leary, you must respond to a distress signal amidst a sandstorm in the blood red wasteland of the Martian desert. Explore Fort Solis station at your own pace, gathering clues from its bunkers, labs, crew quarters, and harsh, stormy surface to understand what enigmatic fate befell its inhabitants. As the night grows longer events escalate, spiral out of control, and the mystery as to what’s really going on deepens.

In addition to being developed on Unreal Engine 5, Fort Solis features a star-studded cast that includes Red Dead Redemption 2 lead Roger Clark, Troy Baker (The Last of Us, Death Stranding), and Julia Brown (The Last Kingdom, World on Fire). It is said to be "a hybrid piece of media, emphasizing narration and immersion" inspired by titles like Firewatch and Until Dawn (think walking sim). It features no camera cuts, load times, or HUD and the story is told across four chapters.

Fort Solis launches on PlayStation 5, PC and Mac on August 22nd.

What is a "cinematic sci-fi adventure"?

Is it a cutscene heavy piece, with a lot of parts where you don't really play, but select responses/reactions?

Is there a specific set of features that make it so?

Literally answered your own question. It's not that hard to understand, is it?

Actually quite like this sort of game. Curious to see how it turns out though as buying in those kind of names means you have to go wide appeal which is probably not going to serve my inner nerd either in terms of story or puzzles, and space colony is not as relatable as exploring someone's house or underground fort.

Still going to do... front page so song though
