These are 2 gig games as .3ds files and when I am generating the xorpads in my 3dsxl, its no where near 2 gigs...

Has anyone had this happen to them?

cards are always in a size of a power of 2 (1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32GB). Often this means a large part of the space is unused. cia's don't have this problem (and you can trim the 3ds roms to remove the empty space, I think)

It's normal,

A raw "rom" game will always be either 128MB, 256MB, 512MB, 1GB, 2GB or 4GB, no matter if the game itself actually contains less data.
So for Smash Bros for example, the game will be between 1GB and 2GB.

So by using CIA you can usually save up a lot of space compared to 3DS roms ;)
