Okay, mine looped. I'll try to patch it and see what happens.

it doesn't show up the Cheat option for Chrono Trigger for CHEAT.DAT nor USRCHEAT.DAT.

The latest release for the CHEATS.DAT dated 27-Nov-08 does not have cheats for the US version. Hopefully, a new update will correct this.

As long as you use the cheats to bypass the protection.

Now, call me stupid, but if that was me I would have placed my d/l rom onto my sd card and tried it on my ds........if it didn't work, then I would have searched this forum expecting to see a thread regarding any issues with R4 (given this cart is still widely used).

Of course, that is the case on this occassion.
This way, I would have negated wasting mine and anyone else's time
