Would just doing a NAND restore nuke all the traces?
If it's a clean nand then yes. I was asking about this because I lost my clean nand backup, and was wondering if this would do a similar thing.

Every switch is region free.If I use ChoiDujourNX and I want to update to 5.1.0 what game can I use?
I see there is Taiko no Tatsujin Nintendo Switch Version however that is Japanese, does that not cause problems?
Is there maybe an EUR game which I can use?

Use their autoxbins program, it's better than trying to manually log in with an external FTP app.@rajkosto my filezilla didn´t want to download from xbins. so how do i extract an update folder from game xci ? with your pc tool ?
and which location do i put that folder (extracted from xci) on my sd card ?

That will actually minimize it, since zeroes written to the partition end up as encrypted nonsense in the backups (unless you are storing backups without BIS encryption)
Whereever you want ?
So I just went through this and all SEEMS to be working but I have a couple questions and apologize in advance if I missed reading something.
1) After ChoiDujourNX was done it asked me to reboot. I did and all I was greeted with was a blank screen. I then put in my jig and was able to boot hekate but the only two boot options I had were "stock_DANGEROUS" & "PreventGCUpdate". Did I miss a step? I was able to restore my old hekate_ipl.ini from the hekate_ipl.ini.bak and the normal options were restored. From there I was able to select CFW and confirm I was on the newer version.
2) My switch now no longer boots normally using the power button. I think I read in your FAQ that I will need to use a non-nintendo bootloader with my jig each time so perhaps this is par for the course? If I ever want to revert back to my previous version of system update can I get the switch to power on normally again like it used to? Or is this irreversible and I am forever now tied to using a jig?
No fault of this homebrew tool but when I do power on the switch without using the jig the screen just stays off waiting for a payload, it's too bad there is not some power indicator so I don't accidentally leave my switch on in this state.
Thanks for all your work! I really appreciate it!
1) This is normal. The black screen is because AutoRCM is enabled to ensure you do not burn fuses by booting stock firmware.
2) If you ever boot stock firmware (with AutoRCM off,) you will burn your fuses, making you unable to downgrade. If you wish to downgrade, you have to System Initialize / Format your console beforehand.
If you do not wish to use AutoRCM you can use a jig. But if you EVER accidentally boot the stock firmware, you will never be able to go back, period.
If you are worried your Switch is left on, make sure to hold the Power button for 12 seconds and it will forcefully shut off, so long as it is not hooked up to a charger. Connecting a USB while it's off will boot it into RCM again.
This is so that someone doesn't unknowingly boot stock or CFW with hekate and then wonder why their gamecart firmware got permanently updated (if running 4.0.0 or higher)
can i use the normal hekete.ini after update to fw 5.1? i will boot into cfw with all featuresThis is so that someone doesn't unknowingly boot stock or CFW with hekate and then wonder why their gamecart firmware got permanently updated (if running 4.0.0 or higher)
where do i put the "kip1patch=nogc" ? do i have to write that in the ini ? for each firmware version ?
and where do i get the replacement file for each firmware ? and for example for firmware 4.1.0 do i then write FS_410_nogc.kip1 or FS_4.1.0_nogc.kip1 ? and with full path where it is located ? like sdmc:/firms/nx 4.1.0-0/FS_XXX_nogc.kip1 ?
sorry, i really do not understand how to prevent gc update
