Chips Discussion Thread - Which Chips are the best ones?

FM synthesis combined to PSG is really damn good.
Too many games suffered from bad poor understanding of the chips, because this machine can produce great sounds, I dare to say even better than the SNES.

Couldn't agree more, there's just something about the distinct sound of the Mega Drive that does it for me. So I'll always love music from the Sonic games over Super Mario World, just to give an example.
