Pretty much nothing is updateable due to a shortage of user-programmable chips, seems everybody changed over.

Should I/we wait for the next revision of groove that may be compatible with the 3.50 firmware? or just hope for the best?
Is it 100% certain that there is a shortage of these ATMEL chips or is it anecdotal at present? What is the source of the information?Rydian said:Pretty much nothing is updateable due to a shortage of user-programmable chips, seems everybody changed over.
Again where is the source of this information coming from? Saying it doesn't make it so.elmoreas said:All the clones us PIC chips and atmels are all gone, end of story, at least for a while. So unless you got a real PS3JB it is a pic chip and is not upgradable regardless of who made it or where it came from. If you got a real ps3jb good for you and you can upgrade as they are atmel but as far as I know not many made it out then again there are no upgrades as of yet so its a moot point. ON THE OTHER HAND... You can use devices like the TI-84+ and b-up enabled psgroove for 3.41 and install a new pkg file when or if a version comes out for 3.50 but its not cheap and may be hard to find ATM. Then again you have no issues with the problem of a device being intended for CR circumvention when you use a calc vs a ps3jb but thats up to you.
Not looking hard enough - although not universally available across all versions.overlord00 said:if you suggest iphone... links (to binaries, source, etc) are needed.... to my knowledge, no such port exists.

overlord00 said:also, not very definitive... only for certain iphone/touch revisions on certain JB firmware.

Can you provide concrete links where people have opened up clones not just of PS3JB but also PS3Key and PS3YES etc and shown them to be PIC chips or again is this purely anecdotal and simply spreads like wildfire across the internet? I ask because I have a PS3key clone arriving soon and based on the size of it (same as original) it would appear that it could not contain the longer rectangular PIC chip.
I am not saying it is not true just that I would prefer more concrete evidence of the fact.
Also where does the "fact" that ATMEL chips are reflashable whilst PIC ones are not stem from?
These questions are not necessarily directed at you but for others to answer too.
One other thing of note the genuine PS3JBs seem to contain both ATMEL and PICs (look on their website under the Truth Inquiry which shows the difference between real and clones) and the genuine PS3JB shows a PIC chip!

Double Edit - Seems like a different PIC chip upon closer inspection but this one is certainly upgradeable
