So I decided to give the whole CARD1 to CARD2 conversion a go... Took the ROM, converted from card1 to card2, checked the header, it was still the same, used the card2 save tool to import the save file into the ROM, and booted it up. Online works so the header must be okay, but save file is still corrupt. I don't understand what's happening since it's the same ROM with the same, untouched header.

someone said the injected save is extractable with savedatafiler......i wouldn't of thought it would be so i didnt test it.....give it a try if you want
so basically it would be a matter of
convert to card2
inject old .sav file using card2 save injector
extract with SDF
restart game, wipe save
re-import with SDF

as i said i don't think this would work, but i didn't test it so idk....maybe it does

ok that was just BS as i thought :P

I tried that injecting a luigi mansion 2 save into animal crossing (same card size save type and header, just different card type) and it doesn't work.

Saves are seriously complicated. I personally learned my lessons when it came to messing around with my alpha sapphire save. I would like to move my save file from the 3ds rom to the cia version of alpha sapphire, but it isn't working out. I would like to do so for all my other games to, but the process is just too complex for me I guess.

So you tried to put a save from a different game into another game and it doesn't work? Wow.

I did that for using with SDF.
did you read what I wrote or not?
both games have same cartridge size, same header and same save crypto

So you are saying that the saves are the exact same file between both games? That it's an empty "save" container that should work? Because regardless if the cart, header & save crypto are the same, they would have different info inside. Thus Animal Crossing game is going to look for certain specific info in the save game, and if you have a luigi mansion save game there, it will not find it, and probably error out.

now I'm not familiar with what you are doing, so maybe I'm missing something, so maybe you can explain to me how a save game for luigi's Mansion is supposed to work in Animal Crossing?

Obviously I didn't want to load a Luigi's mansion save into animal crossing... it would be stupid; but SaveDataFiler does not care of the contents. it dumps the save as it is
What I was saying is that changing to card2 from card1 is enough for the save to be different (by that I mean different as it being encrypted with a different key) even if you don't touch the rest of the data, like the header. (or that suggested my findings)

well i tested the whole card1 injected to card2 (using the same game) and yeah as i thought i didnt work......so yeah atm, the only way you could do this is if you had a MT card, or knew someone who has one who you could send your.sav file to to extract it with save data filer
