What Im trying to ask is, is it possible to use fbi to uninstall the file that blocks flashcarts
are you sure about that? as the old whitelist will be "broken" and that is why old ds flashcarts starts,FYI uninstalling DS Cart White list will brick TWL. So you should be sure to install an older version and not just leave it uninstalled.
I installed the one from v2.0 FW. (earliest available version unless someone with a 1.0 launch console with a nand mod manages to get 1.0 to boot on emunand and dump it. )
I had a similar situation like this. I tried once to delete 10302 (Word filter) but then whenever I tried to type ANY WORD into a wordbox, the 3DS froze for a couple of seconds then said that I couldn't use that word. It's kinda weird.Yes I'm sure. I tested that using FBI. I uninstalled DS Cart White list and tried to use a legit game. Got the black screen error telling me to power off anytime I tried to boot a DS game. This happened even with Mario 64 DS thus TWL is effectively bricked if the white list is left uninstalled. It worked fine afterwords the moment I reinstalled one.
Odd that it works with a broken one, but if it's not installed at all, TWL doesn't like that.
If you have a NAND backup and restore it, it might remove it.
You would have to have a NAND backup before you installed the cia and then you could restore it. I am not 100% sure that removes the cia however. How would that work?!?!?!
That's interesting, I guess TWL_FIRM just checks it's installed, but doesn't check it's validityYes I'm sure. I tested that using FBI. I uninstalled DS Cart White list and tried to use a legit game. Nintendo blocks DS flash cart devices with new updates. We want to break that and use our old DS flash carts to play "backup" .nds games. What would someone want to uninstall it? (this is a serious question).
Except maybe if it's to try to install an older (more compatible) version?
Well, then, no need to uninstall anything. Just find and install a .cia file to enable then again. More info here : https://gbatemp.net/threads/release-use-blocked-ds-flashcards-on-3ds-probably-n3ds-too.376719/
So, you can't fix them.
I don't even think dumping an old version would be possible, as you need, at least, 4.x firmware to run the gateway, so how to dump a file from 1.x or 2.x firmware if you can't run tools on it?
It doesn't have 1.0 obviously, but it does have 2.0 which would be the earliest version you could download.Someone said 3DNUS didn't had very old firmwares like 1.0. Didn't checked but dunno why it would be wrong.
And I really think it don't really worth messing a lot about if when some ds flashcards already works (especially one that all Gateway owners have), but well.

Using cearp's method breaks the whitelist, while using FBI to delete and then reinstall an older version is effectively downgrading it.
Both methods achieve the same result, using FBI is the right way to do it, but cearp's method was simply the only option up until now.
