Hardware Can you give me transfer help?

My 3dsxl (not new series) recently broke. I want to know if I can do a transfer from my 3dsxl to another 3dsxl because I don't like the button layout of the "new" 3dsxl. I also don't have a micro sd card to transfer my data to a "new" one anyways.

You can do system transfers to old system to old system, old system to new system, new system to new system. But not new system to old system.

Thanks for the help on this. " But not new system to old system" I remember on the Nintendo support forums it said you could do this if you called them or something.

If you tell them about it, they can move the console to a old system. Its the only way outside of the official transfer methods of doing so.

Not sure if Nintendo allows unlinking the NNID from an [ n3DS / n3DSXL / n2DSXL ] and then relinking this on a different [ o3DS / o3DSXL / o2DS].
