I'm sure they could implement it. All they need is a simple video tag.
CODE
Lorem ipsum

Although, it would be a headache to have to go back and adjust all existing videos and what not and I'm not sure if IP.Board supports HTML5.

There's more to it than just pushing a button if you want to make a HTML5 version of a flash service.

It would require a reimplementation of the service, something that likely isn't a priority.

Just download the Skyfire webbrowser for iPad. It can view most flash videos.

If you can get there you can find the FLV file that makes it up- I did not get far trying to find any base files it encoded it to though.
CODE

Key part being
"http%3A//gbatemp.net/v/32303-68.flv" %3A just being the ASCII hex representation of ":"
I toyed around with the extensions but just got images back for my trouble and likewise I could not get HTML5 to work.

If you can download a video though you stand a chance of firing it through a proper media player.

/post before incendiary comment.

I took that video and converted it to an .ogv using ffmpeg2theora. After that, I uploaded the video to my site and used the HTML5 code I posted.

your browser does not support this video tag. :/

It worked well enough. You can check out the finished result here.

Also, to prevent GBAtemp from showing the video in HTML5 to people browsing without an Apple device, they should use a Javascript navigator code,

If it is possible, will it be done?
I doubt it.

It will take too much work to implement. Although, I have found a snippet of code online that will allow the video to show for everyone including those browsing with an iPad.

Costello has a great deal of stuff going on right now (I would say when is it ever slow but this is even worse than normal) and playing to limited platforms is probably not the best use of the time.

As we mentioned though so combining that with a proper media player (normally I avoid it but did I hear VLC appeared on IOS driven products? edit http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-ios.html )- flash is more than a video player but video files it uses are easy enough.

Not that it usually bothers people but here flash videos on GBAtemp are especially easy to grab (full URL of download in source code).

If we ever find the location of the source files or an intermediary (I am not sure what goes on behind the scenes here) then maybe a player can be made or you can abuse one of the HTML5 video generators.
