my friend has a 360 and it recently RRODed. i'm thinking of buying it (for 5 euros it should be possible), and maybe fixing it. but what are the odds of me fixing it? is there any chance I can send it back to Microsoft? it's out of the guaranteeperiod, and I think it's at least 4 years old atm.

how much will it cost me if i change the parts and all?

Sending it to MS will cost you €100 iirc.

Chances of fixing it is quite high.
Reflow will do the job but it won't last long.

It's best to do an reball (expensive but will last longer)
Or just get a Jasper or better 360.

Some say that some bolts and washers will fix the RRoD (after reflowing)

RRoDs are prone to break again.
He was asking for the disassembled pieces, how much would they be worth.

Oh sorry read it wrong...

You can sell the DVD drive for ~20
The heatsinks for 10 each
Casing for a couple of tenners (you can mod it and jack up the price)
You can sell the PSU for 20 or 30.

are you using haxchi, tiramisu or aroma?
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    yeah
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
no, I'm asking which one of them you are using
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    aroma
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
in that case, there is no such thing as homebrew launcher for aroma
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
you have to launch your homebrews directly from the wii u menu
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
there is a plugin that display them on the wii u menu, pretty sure it is enabled by default
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    so like it doesnt exist
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    yeah
    ?
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
it doesn't exist, at least not for aroma
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    ohhhhh
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
on tiramisu you can access it by opening mii maker
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    okay
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
I don't have a wii u anymore to test it myself, but if homebrews are not visible on the wii u menu I think you can press L + R + minus to open the plugin menu, there should be an option called "homebrews on wii u menu" or something similar
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    nope
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    it is L+dpad down+ select
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
but homebrew is appearing in the home menu btw
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
    yes, now I remember it
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
then it is working, I also don't like that they did this but it is the only option you have if you are using aroma
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
i just didint know the homebrew launcher didint exist in aroma
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
