But in all honesty, who hasn't downloaded an MP3, a rom, or tried out a war

My partner honestly hasn't... he has no problem with it, he just never has.

He pays for all his music, his CD collection is bigger then my MP3 collection. His DVD collection and VHS collection is HUGE

some ppl just dont for some reason.

There is a significant difference between piracy using a softmod or a hardware mod.
The softmod is a much bigger thread to companies because the hardware mod is usually only used by a minority for fear of damaging the console and/or losing warranty.

And so far most people against a softmod in this thread just pointed the "softmod-beggers" to modchip because they are pricy enough as it is...

Frankly, i live in the UK, and im sick and tired of baying £40 ($80) just for one game. Yes, that does mean ive pledged $2560 in to wii/GC games, and frankly i believe that its an absolute joke.
Sorry but I find it rather hard to believe you cannot afford a modchip if you already spent £1280...

I work in a video game store, and I'll tell you 1/5 people that buys a Wii buy games with it. The rest I never see again, or they buy like WiiPlay or some shit like that and then they dissappear.

Anecdotal evidence is not a reliable indicator of market trends.

QUOTE(The Frenchman @ Jul 17 2008, 03:30 PM) BTW burning a game is the same as downloading an MP3.

No it isn't; MP3s by themselves are not illegal. You can pay for downloads from indie label sites. The legality lies in how the material was acquired, and even then, nothing can be proved unless you are making a large quantity of material available for download without the copyright holder's consent.

You don't believe me Most Wii buyers do not buy games?

I'm speaking here of Mr and Ms everybody, not gamers, it's clear THEY don't come here. so anyone here is just the 1/5 I spoke of. Really, just look at games being made, if 3rd parties aren't pissed at Wii why do they not make more games, and I don't mean shitty excuse of games, I mean why don't they work their asses to come up with a fresh title?

List here 5 games that are not Nintendo Products that are system sellers for Wii... GOOD LUCK!

Seriously, I'm not only basing this over experience at work. Just look at who Wii is aimed at. You really think Nintendo cares about the games you buy? No, the only thing they care is that the games you play are on Wii, proof? watch Nintendo's E3 conferences, isn't it only about sales? CONSOLE SALES?

just compare with Microsoft, they deliver on games, you get INCREDIBLE third party support and you get low quality console (build) MS sure makes more money with games than consoles. HECK everyone does, BUT Nintendo.

about MP3, anyone who just play on words saying many MP3 download service are legals... SHUT UP! It was clear I was reffering to illegal downloads, VERY few people refuses to download illegal music, Internet lives off of two things, Porn and Illegal downloads. So don't come here and tell me people doing it are not normal. (not making them right either)

point of this post is to say; "Piracy exists" and you can't just be hypocrite about it claiming you're all 100% straight when you are a user on a site like GBAtemp.

PS. Sorry for wall of text.

we already know the wii makes money on hardware sales.

wii wants to go party games. .... umm ppl that play party games cant work the TP hack... they dont even have zelda

nintendo is all about system sales.

its imposible for 3rd parties to make games for. and look at the new wii attachment. that should have been incorporated from the begging

NO one in the history of consoles can push peripherals like the wii.... vc controler, wii ballence mat, nunchuck, new 1:1 .... fuck games .

im not pro piracy but im not exactly con piracy either
1. a lot of games i own have been scratched by the systems i own them selves mainly 360 but after time they refuse to work
2. iv had enough of having to pay to have systems repaired even thou its malfuctioning hardware an no fault of my own
2. enough of having to buy replacement games for games that refuse to work because the sytem scratches them to death... mainly 360 again but iv had to for my wii a couple of times

quick note: i own all of my backups legaly even if the orginal works or not.. no law breaking there unless i sold my backups for profit

No, they probably get them elsewhere besides your shop. Are you telling me you remember each and every person who comes in to buy something?
Also, why do I have to give a list of third-party system-sellers if you are so sure that four out of five Wii owners don't buy any games?

No it wasn't. You compared a clearly illegal action with an ambiguous one. All this "clarity" only appeared in your reply to me.
