Bubble Bobble makes a comeback as a Switch exclusive with Bubble Bobble 4 Friends

It has been a long time since we've seen a new Bubble Bobble game; 10 years, in fact, have passed since the most recent entry in the series: Bubble Bobble Plus, for the Nintendo Wii. And after a slight hibernation, the franchise is back, as Taito has announced Bubble Bobble 4 Friends, as a Nintendo Switch exclusive. This new game will feature the typical single and two-player options that previous Bubble Bobble games have had, but will also include a hectic four-player co-op mode. There will be both physical and digital versions for the game, which launches November 19th in Europe, and Q1 2020 for North America.

Trying to figure out the numbering and chronology of the Bubble Bobble series is pretty intense to say the least. This is awesome though. Would've loved to see an online competitive mode with lots of bubblers.

Heck when I saw this news I was both excited and like "Wait Taito's still alive???"
ANNOUNCEMENTS: "Next up Irem corp has decided to release a collection of their arcade games, including for the first time ever, Ninja Baseball Batman for home consoles"

ME: "Irem corp is still in business?" :wtf:

Fair enough, though as an American buyer, I'll want a boxed copy over digital, which will require a bit of a wait.

The physical comes with the American release only? If not, you could import the physical EU version as it's not region locked, unless you don't want the PEGI logo or something.

Only problem with importing games is DLC, still need those proper account types to claim them, even if it's a code that comes with the game. :(

True, which is really stupid. It's there with the PS4 as well. But I doubt this game has DLC you'd want to spend money on, let alone if there will be any DLC at all.

Yeah, I suppose. But we never know, how people just come up with stuff. Tetris 99 was advertised first as a nintendo online subscriber incentive, now is just a game you buy to play alone if you don't subscribe but still want to play tetris. Seem misleading. Not upset about this, just confused a bit. A bett

A better example is probably Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 Scarlet. Import only and dlc require proper account from the asia region. :ninja:

I have the subscription, but haven't touched Tetris yet. I don't fully understand, you have to purchase Tetris 99 to play it without the subscription is what you're saying yes? So that's the game, what is this DLC?

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.
