Just read through this thread and I'm gonna say Chris seems to be talking out of his ass. If any delivery company loses a package that is insured, they don't give you a replacement, that's not how that works, you're insured for the cost of the item, not the item itself.

I would know I sell on ebay dialy

Well you obviously have his name and address. So, if it comes to it, file a police report for theft. At least in the UK, the police would do f*ck all, but you could then claim on your household insurance with the police report. But maybe police in Germany actually do something more than look out for big moneyed interests, and will help.

EDIT: Yeah probably should point out this is a massive last resort, but the situation is never hopeless.

Those were my thoughts as well of course. The thing is that I don't want to wrongfully accuse anyone publicly on the forums but at this point there's nothing else I can do.

The main thing I want to do is warn others but an added benefit is that publishing this on the forums might put some pressure on ChrisX930 to fix it.

The whole cant check till i get home thing is what gets me, Only Germany has the internet to check tracking ??? Cant flick Mum a quick Text message to get her to do the Germany based stuff??. Even if guy told me his brother was personally delivering the 3DS to me, albeit on a bamboo raft with a broken paddle, 4 months is way too long........ (I would DHL him an outboard motor at about 6 week mark)

are people really thinking if they ship broken items (or used stuff like a 3ds) if the package gets lost they get a brand new one?
it doesn't make sense...

Exactly I smell a lot of bullshit plus it took a public thread to get his attention even though the guy PM'd him and he still did not reply.

Gast serieus.....
There are a lot of Dutch people here who could fix your 3DS without mailing it at all...

Don't blame the German guy, you should be blaming yourself for doing such thing.

I don't think you could be serious about not expecting things to be done right because they were done abroad.
And you could also blame the publicity department of said Dutch people, let's be honest.

DHL....uuugh...but its always a good idea to ensure your shipping. Especially something as this one when shipping to another country.

yeah sure he shouldn't blame the German guy for keeping his 3ds for 4 months (i don't want to say this but to me it looks like he robbed him or at least tried to if the situation is finally fixed, sorry)!!

well tbh there is only a few people offering hardmods on gbatemp, and depending on what the truth behind all this is, whether or not the console actually got returned etc, even if he accepts his mistake for trusting someone its still worth alerting other users who may also send their console off to be repaired and not see it again.......as i say idk the whole story here, maybe the OP gave a incorrect address, maybe the address is out in the middle of nowhere and the DHL drive just though "meh i cba going there", we wont really know the whole story, but all we know is it was sent to be repaired, 4 months later its still not been returned, i would say its fairly reasonable to at least share your experience rather than just sit in silence and leave other people to have potentially the same happen to them, its not like he wasn't warned before all this happened ;)
yeah hardmod is the only way to go.....it will probably be cheaper to post to Germany from the Netherlands, although its always good to know the reputation of the person doing the work for you,no offense by this chrisx930, just saying if you send your console to someone on the internet, its always good to know they have done this kind of work before and they ain't going to just keep the 3DS :P

but we all start somewhere i suppose, and it would be good to have another modder doing work for EU central, as UK international postage can be a little steep, to limit risk, just remember all you need to send is the console and maybe the SD card with nand backup....dont need to post the charger or gateway cards (if you have one)....limit your risk :)

What are you Cassandra unheard prophesying a bad outcome?

Oh man, it is really next door, even DHL could pull that off.

Note: I pulled Enschede out of my ass because he said it is near the border, in any other case the distance should also not change too much.

There's no need to point fingers. What needs to be confirmed is how the address was input on the shipping label, how DHL is going to handle a lost package which happened on there end, and if Chris has open an investigation on this issue or just waiting to collect.

I live very close to the border and my father even works in Germany and I had the package shipped there so the package was sent to a german address.
