I just got my black nintendo wii from JPN and it appears that it doesnt run Homebrew. The serial code is LJF5XXXXXXXX

The system itself looks sharp.

Japan Black wiis are the newest addition so it probaly has the newest boot2 and the newest LU could possibly wait for a new mod if it isnt modable.

firmware is 4.0J bannerbomb doesnt work, I dont have a NTSC-J Zelda. But when I tried bannerbomb it didnt load.

Homebrew has nothing to do with boot2.

If you can throw a NAND-dump the way of the twiizers you'll probably have homebrew pretty soon.

Btw. what system menu does the Wii have and might updating help to get bannerbomb to run?

I believe that nintendo said that they have no plans at this time of releasing it out side if japan.

Whew, you had me scared there. I'm glad Nintendo didn't fix bannerbomb or any of that stuff, I would have been a tad pissed off since some of my friends come to me for Wii modding.

Looks nice though. Makes me want to paint my Wii black....

all menus are in english. knowing nintendo they probably will release this stateside this xmas.

There's quite a few sites that sell OEM painted cases that you can just swap out yourself with some patience. Here's a link: NDS-Central.com -- you can also probably get someone locally to acrylic airbrush your case. I had it done locally for about 40 usd a year or so ago to be jet black.
