Gaming Black and White wireless multiplayer

I'm really confused right now. Would we be able to use standard DS wireless play to battle each other or is it only this infrared bullcrap? I've heard many say that wireless can be used to battle friends, and I don't know who to believe.

There are 3 methods of connection:

Infrared
Wireless
Wifi

You can battle on all 3 of them, you can battle anywhere without the need to go to a pokemon centre using the infrared though

Wireless is still Pokemon center required though? You sure of this? I knew about the wifi types but I heard to play multiplayer with a friend you can only battle via infrared.

Well if the only method was IR then Wireless wouldn't be viewable in the battle menu.
IR is for quick battles and box trades. Wireless is for Union room which also allows battles and trades but restricted to pokecenters.

well not really i though it was infrared for a while so i looked at one of the Pokemon Center Videos and i saw the Union and wireless battle symbols so yes its both infrared and wireless battles and trades
and my bad ryu i was wrong i had to double check my sources again sorry

But sometimes Nintendo is full of CRAP and might not allow it. (I want to give away one of my DSes and buy a 3DS to support the multiplayer part also)

Why wouldn't they allow it?
DS games played on a 3DS will be able to connect with DS games played on a DS.
