You can try mine instead. Just dumps to "sdmc:/Update"
Source: https://github.com/J-D-K/biggestDump. Binary attached.
Did you know your tool does not give a proper pending dump?, if you compare the two apps one dump from FirmwareDumper and yours BiggestDump you will notice in biggestdump placehld folder which contains the pending updates, it's not correct! it comes out as some random size.

What is it that's not "correct"?

Try it for yourself and you will see. The pending folder "placehld" has the .nca files in it but its not dumped properly every .nca file is 4KB in size this is wrong it amounts to only 7 - 8mb in total it should be around 269mb.

I wasn't arguing you. Just wanted to know what wasn't proper.
Sorry I didn't know I thought you was asking me. Yes it's not write don't use it stick with the firmware dumper, it will probably brick your switch! It's just not dumping correctly, every time you dump the pending update it dumps random sizes of the nca files I have tested it three times now every output size in the placehld folder has been different. I am using an nsp menu version whether that is the cause of it I'm not sure? but it's certainly not correct.

May I ask where you got this nsp version? I just ran both on my Switch and both dumps are identical. The only difference was that mine didn't take close to 40 minutes to get the job done.

I made it myself it’s a forwarder there’s nothing wrong in the nsp conversion and mine certainly doesn’t take anywhere near 40 mins it took about 1 minute. I have ran it three times also once via the homebrew menu all the pending dumps placehld folder came out different sizes. The latest firmware dump comes out perfect. I won’t be using it no, no way! I know I might have a bit of depth in my tone but tbh just say for example I never checked this and I ran it through ChoiDujour asap that would of bricked my switch, asap! That’s why I’m annoyed! You should take it down until a proper release and it’s tested thoroughly.

Just dumped the current firmware using both Firmware Dumper and BiggestDump.

Identical filesizes, I'm not even gonna bother running a hash check.

From what I can see in JKs source for BiggestDump, it dumps the pending update and current update in the same way (correct me if I, so there shouldn't be any issues. Saying that a homebrew will brick a device is a serious accusation and you should really think twice before spewing random bullshit.

What I'm more interested to know is why BiggestDump takes 1 minute to finish and Firmware Dumper takes at least 20 minutes.

No the latest firmware dumps perfect I’m talking about a “pending update” in the placehld folder not registered you have to force the 6.2.0 update and then use the dumper to dump the 6.2.0 firmware in the “placehld” folder. Firmware Dumper dumps a perfect pending copy every time. I’m not trying to spread any bullshit this is true I can post images if you prefer.

It's the same code. Both dumps would be bad if that were the case. You're basically telling me to thoroughly test code that is 3 years old at this point and has been through hell and back.

To get a pending update you need to force the 6.2.0 update and then it will dump this update into the placehld folder, correct? Yes. If you check the size of the folder it’s incorrect! You only have to check the size alongside firmware dumper it’s wrong.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

See both dumps one from firmware dumper one from biggest dump you can clearly see the pending update is wrong with biggest dump, it should be 263MB for the 6.2.0 firmware but it never is the sizes always vary.

I've changed the image so you can see the .nca files in both folders in case someone didn't believe there was any files in the biggest dump pending folder. @Shadowfied I suggest you keep out of this, it’s serious please you don’t know what you are doing, ok.

I'm gonna test and check the 6.2 update too, but regardless, stop scaring people with bricks and spreading rumors. There's no firmware installer right now that doesn't verify against a hash before it installs.

Shut up and go away don't post anything else just leave things alone as they are please, your digging a deeper hole for yourself let mods/staff deal with it, ok @Cyan . This is no rumor or scare mongering, it's a fact! This dumper would brick your switch, no doubt.

I'll leave this thread alone as I'm apparently digging a hole for myself but to conclude my own personal tests, I went to system settings and got the 6.2 update downloaded, then let both Firmware Dumper and BiggestDump dump all their shit, and what I got was identical matching files.

This time Firmware Dumper took about 40 minutes to finish and BiggestDump took about 2 minutes.

It doesn’t matter if your dump seems the correct size, it’s irrelevant I’m saying and stating I tested it with sxos 6 times and every sized dump was different it fluctuated between 8MB, 162MB, 244MB and so on so what I am saying is, if mine is wrong then others will be wrong and brick using it.

I’m saying users should not use this biggestdump! it does not dump the pending firmware correctly my opinion it does it so quick and that is what’s causing the incorrect sizes I also suggest the op separate this app from firmware dumper I have no doubt firmware dumper always dumps the correct size biggest dump is erratic.

Also @Shadowfied if your so confident in this app that it’s ok when 6.2cfw is confirmed you use it, you seem to want to back it up so suggested and say in comments it’s ok you go ahead!

I can barely comprehend your bad writing but if you're telling me to go through updating using the files BiggestDump gives me, I will. For sure. And any future update where I need it. Why would I wait 40 minutes instead of 2 for the exact same end result?
Not to mention, ChoiDujourNX verifies the signatures so it wont let you go through with bad files.

Run this. I want to know what's really going on. Upload or copy and paste the file from "sdmc:/Update/fileLog.txt".

why do you put me in your fights? I did nothing :ohnoes:

Well, I feel like you didn't reply nicely, and you should give benefit of the doubt to other users too.
you starting saying it creates bad dump, you didn't tell it was random.
Now you finally said the size is always different, and Shadowfied proved it can also create good dumps.

I think JK_ is doing the good thing : trying to find the problem and check logs of your console instead of both being stubborn :P
I'm all for everyone working together and a happy place to share.
I hope this issue will be sorted out.

Sorry I wasn't involving you I just thought it was best left to a staff level to sort it out because of the disagreements between us and take it down.

@Shadowfied dump is wrong anyway it says 256MB and contains 205 files, it should be 263MB with 209 nca files all round for a full switch firmware dump pending so to be fair I'm not sure where her dump has come from. Cyan it needs taking down it will brick users switch's I'm telling you but please if you don't listen to me and it happens don't blame me for not trying.
