By past I meant that I think I might have updated it after 4.2. I actually have no idea because I don't have my wii right now, but the last time I updated it was when I got NSMB Wii. So would it work? I mean on your front page it says "ANY Wii" and it says that you can downgrade, but I really have no idea.

it doesn't matter what firmware u are starting on, this program will work

if u updated via the NSMB disc, u are probably on 4.1, if u updated via an official ninty wi-fi update, u should be on 4.2. Either way, just run the wizard, u will be fine

This whole time I was thinking that there was another firmware update and there was no way to soft mod my wii until this thing

You can see your system menu version in the top right of the wii settings

But yeah, there's nothing higher than 4.2 atm

It was working fine and i was very happy that i had finnaly done it but.. When i opened MPlayer CE and shutdown the wii. It refused to open the system menu. Priiloader says that it couldn't find some file and i can't boot the HBC from it. What do i do. Do i somehow use the NAND backup or what.

I have only installed:

HBC
Bootmii (not as boot 2)
Priiloader
Trucha Bug
And some IOS's/cIOS's

This is all i think. Sorry i can't be more specific but i can't check my wii at the moment. I am out. Will try top get back to you later but for now.

All i know is that i opened up the homebrew app MPlayer CE and it worked fine. I then shut down the console usiong the shutdown button on the HBC home menu. When i turned the wii back on, priiloader came up instead of the wii menu and it said that the wii menu was missing or something like that. When i tried to launch the HBC, it said that it was missing or uninstalled. Please try to help with this information and i will get some more info in about 12 hours.

be more specific with what that msg is saying, is it a msg saying hacks.ini is missing from fat or nand or something like that?

If so, in the priiloader menu, go down to system menu hacks, enable/disable each hacks as u like, then SAVE them. Even if u want to have all the system menu hacks disabled, u should still SAVE them all as disabled, otherwise u will get that error message when trying to load the system menu

edit: did u use NUSAD to install everything, or did u mod it using another guide? What version of priiloader do u have installed? What version of the HBC do u have installed?

i cant get this to work on my computer i go through all the questions an then it says generating list and gets stuck

what OS r u using?
Do u have .NET framework 3.5 installed? If not, perform repeated official windows updates until there aren't any more updates
Have u tried more than once?
Did you change the drive letter to something that doesn't exist?

edit: fyi, that is a very weird place for it to freeze, that part is just using basic windows cmd commands. I suspect u are doing something funky for it to crash there.

if you do not have a program associated with text files (*.txt) then it will probably prompt u to select a program to open the guide with

But I thought windows had default settings for txt files to open with notepad though, so I could be mistaken (and i'm not about to reformat my pc to see what the default file associations are, lol)

I followed your guide with verson (?.1.1)

I did everything correctly and it worked perfectly (thanks) but i opened up MPlayer CE in the HBC and the wii wouldn't load back on. I assume that the wii has been bricked and just wondering how to fix it and how to use the NAND backup? I was running system menu 4.2 and a virgin E wii.

The massage might say something about the hacks.ini, but i do not know, i will check as soon as i can. But, when i go down to the open HBC option, Priiloader says that it is not on the system. I have not tried anything else but i will try as soon as i can and get back to you with more information

P.S. And yes, it was my fault. Should have checked if MPlayer is safe or not.

k, i'm assuming it was the most recent v4.1.1

the program generates custom guides, so there is no ONE guide, if u were tell me what parameters were used to generate your guide that would be VERY helpful (this info will be @ the top of the guide NUSAD made for you)

and MPlayer_CE did not brick you, that's impossible

as I said, I think your problem accessing the system menu will be solved by saving your system menu hacks in priiloader

if u installed priiloader v0.4 and the HBC, then u should be able to access the HBC via priiloader without any problems. If u installed a different version of priiloader, then u did not do so using my program.

if u did not update the HBC to v1.06, and u upgraded to SM v4.2, it would have deleted older versions of the HBC that have the title id "HAXX". This would also explain why u can't access the HBC via priiloader.

So because I don't know what parameters u entered into NUSAD, i don't know what u installed. For all I know, u entered that your wii was already hacked, then u decided not to download/install the new homebrew channel so u answered no to that question in the wizard. There is no way for me to know this sort of thing without your help.

Here's one last Q: were u able to install bootmii as boot2?

I am going to try and answer as many questions as i can befire i can get home and check my wii. You might have already supplied the correct answer to my question but i will try to get more info justin case (just in case, sorry about that pun)

I selected virgin wii. I selected that i had version 4.2 system menu and wanted to have 4.2. I also said that i didn't want any of the channels installed. I think that that was all the question and my answers were all truthful. I installed the version of priiloader and HBC that was provided from your brilliant NUSAD. I am certain that i was unable to open the HBC from your version of priiloader and HBC after whatever happened had happened. I confirm that it was working earlier.

I am relieved to know that MPlayer CE could not have done it because it means that i didn't do anything wrong. I will see if enabling system menu hacks will work when i get home. Until then please try and provide possible other situations.

Yes he can, it's GPLed software. And, the method you PMed me won't work for me. If I want I can post the source, anyone can redistribute it, so him not wanting doesn't hold up. Oh and making money on GPLed software isn't cool.

Hey Xflak, make sure you add in every person that helped create the development environment, and operating system that he used also. Crap, that goes all the way back to AT&T's code that is used in nearly every OS out there. Jeeze man, you're gonna have a long credits list. Don't forget to also add anybody that taught him anything about math skills or programming because of course he did not teach it all to himself and those skill were definitely needed to do the type of stuff that he did. Lets start with his preschool teacher and parents.

you have again proven yourself ignorant. I tried to be nice about the situation. you used code that used Wii.py code. that means that our license and credits must still be intact. someone teaching you how to do math obviously isn't a license and therefore isn't needed.
