PM me, and I'll pop it in the post to you tomorrow morning.

Looks like there is a wide range of fake memory stick quality.
My fake Sony 4GB had decent r/w speed when I ran the speed test, but it had "spikes" and it caused some movies to pop.

The last thing you want is your only flash dump getting corrupted in a fake MS, I've only lost one gamesave since March 2007 (Thank god)

no chance of that happening with the fake 4gb i can't even upgrade to 3.90m33 anyway lol but thanks to thebobevil when the memory stick turns up tomorrow i can possibly upgrade the psp with the legit sony one i think.

Apart from the images and guides found on eBay, what other things would be good to look out for when purchasing 2GB Hi-Speed Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo?

I'm still on my lookout for the 2GB Hi-Speed Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo, I've got a 256-MB version and quite liked the series.

Once I paid USD 24 (about 1 month ago) for a 2 GB Sony Memory stick (with images and description of Sony) but when I checked against my PSP, it displayed MagicGate unsupported. I was lucky that the seller was willing to refund me full sum (except that I've got to mail the item to him).

Since we're on the topic of Sony Memory Stick. I would like to ask, if anyone will purchase the new 16GB Memory Stick Pro Duo which is going for USD 399.

I will not, cos i find it too expensive.

Imagine if you lose your PSP...16GB gone with the wind. Of if i damage the PSP and spoil the Memory stick> *unimaginable*

certinaly not! it's nearly the price of a ps3 console!

So would 2x 4GB be cheaper than 1 x 8GB?

Almost definitely ... the combined cost of two 4gb sticks would be at least a few quid cheaper than the cost of one 8gb stick ...

only downside is the constant swapping from the psp when you want to acess gamesaves and other stuff on the memory stick, but it is cheaper tha buying a 4gb memory stick though.

Plus, the bigger the stick, the more likely you are to get a fake, it seems ... the newest fakes are always of the largest sizes available ...

Plus, the fakes used to be cheaper than the real ones, to lure people in to buying them, but the pedlars of fakes have learned, and now sell them for the same kinds of prices ...

Just a reminder, the fastest 4GB sticks are currently Lexar Platinum II's. Yes, in this case alone, Lexar is superior. The 4GB sticks suffer no lag problems (above what EVERY stick suffers) or plug-in loading issues.

Right now, they are $40, but I've seen them for $28 last week. They constantly drop in price.

i've heard that lexar is the worst, some plug ins dont' work with it too.

Well I haven't used Lexar so I can't make any comments, but Lexar is a reliable maker of memory cards. The downside is Lexar models frequently come out later than Sony/SanDisk's. (Which isn't too much of a turnoff because you're not gonna buy the newest memory sticks anyway?)

Especially with the research of Pro HG Duo finished, we may see Sony/SanDisk HG cards coming out soon. Though they'll be super expensive (as in 16/32GB models would be more expensive than the PSP itself), their performance can't be matched by Pro Duo technology.

I hope 4GB Pro HG Duo would be reasonably priced (I still expect 3 digit launch price though =/). As far as running PSP game's concerned, this won't be necessary (because Pro Duo already kicks UMD's ass in transfer rate) but transferring 4GB in 30 seconds? I don't see a downside to THAT!

Since we have the memory stick good enough to pirate, can PSP2 come out

?

I had a good fake.

Made in Japan (Sony logo 2GB ect)

Had red writing on it - worked fine for the time I had it

I found the best way to check (after mistakingly buying it) is Under Game/Memory Stick (press Triangle for Options -> Information)
MagicGate should say supported.
Mine said MagicGate: Unknown

I now have a SanDisk UltraII 2GB High Speed Memory Stick PRO DUO Card
