Hey everyone, I want to share something I've been working on: PSP Flix. Basically it lets you search for a movie or TV episode, pick it, and it downloads and converts it into an MP4 that just works on the PSP. No messing with ffmpeg settings or resolutions yourself it gives you a 480x272 file ready to drop onto your Memory Stick.
There's also a small extra tool bundled in called PSP Thumbnail Maker. If you've ever put videos on a PSP you know the video menu shows that ugly generic white icon unless there's a matching .THM cover file. This just makes those for you grab a frame from the video or use your own image, and it saves the .THM next to your file.
A bit of backstory: I'd actually finished a version of this a while ago, but I decided to scrap it and rebuild the whole thing from scratch, mainly so I could add English and Spanish support instead of it being Italian only. Right now English and Italian both work well. Spanish has the groundwork in place but I haven't properly tested it yet, so expect it to be rough or maybe broken for now.
The whole thing is open source, and the code is already set up with a base for adding more providers in different languages so it's built to grow beyond what's there now, whether that's me or anyone who wants to contribute.
I'll be upfront about how it got made: I'm not really a programmer. I leaned on AI a lot to build this, and honestly most of what actually works is thanks to that I'm not going to pretend otherwise. I mostly figured out what I wanted it to do, tested it to death, and kept going until it stopped breaking.
A couple of heads ups:
1: Streaming sites change constantly, so some providers will break over time. If one stops working, open an issue on GitHub and I'll take a look.
2: Depending on your ISP you might need a VPN for some providers to download at all.
