Dude, some people want to hack. If the update actually patches the exploit, it gets released. Some people consider that useful.

Then it's all about the hackers to release the exploit before the update comes out.
Tell people not to update for Nothing is useless.

Well it looks like I don't have to think hard now, it finally got released -

If there is no kernel release for Wii U, I have something to occupy my time now.

thats pretty cool but this isnt

"The introduction also warns that once you've converted your console over, you may occasionally run into issues running retail games. In addition, the introduction says, leaving Dev Mode will require resetting your console to its factory settings and uninstalling all of your games, apps and content."

hahaha you actually believe that
It has always been the case for every public exploit we have now, the stagefright exploit is an exception the devs thought it was patched without looking hard enough, and it wasn't.
MN1 has absolutely no reason to keep the exploit private after it's patched ^^.

Yeah, I'm willing to take that problem, it's better than what is currently available to do on the Wii U. Also, I have been messing around on Unity, and I can deploy straight from that to the Xbox One. Even with kernel exploit, that still isn't possible on the Wii U. I may make some more apps on the Wii U in the future, but it will probably be a while now, unless something crazy comes out, like a kernel for 5.5 and a whole bunch of development stuff, I just haven't had the time or patience to work on an exploit myself. One day I'd probably have one done, but it's definitely no priority now, I can do everything I wanted on the Xbox One with little hassle.

So I decided to update to 5.5.1 from 5.5 and then disable updates again this morning, and when I did, I got a notification on my console that Street Wii U service was going to be discontinued tonight, so this may add credence to the fact that they may actually update the firmware tonight. I know they did a firmware upgrade to remove the TVii icon, but I am pretty sure if there is a firmware update, it isn't going to do much, other than remove the Street Wii U service. I wouldn't expect any patching of the system.
