During the Panel From Hell livestream today, Larian Studios revealed the Early Access release date for its upcoming RPG Baldur’s Gate 3. The studio announced that it’s aiming for September 30th, 2020 as the date for PC and Stadia players. Some gameplay ~47:00 and 1:34:00, well.. not much gameplay. Skipping through trying to find if it's Turn Based or Real time w/ pause. I'd guess they mention it at some point in the video but I don't have time to watch a 2 hour stream.

Looks kind of like DivinityS 2, which is probably a good thing. I might still enjoy it even if it's only turn based since DS was fun.

Edit: Lol, the shorthand for Divinity Original Sin gets turned into a smiley face!

Early Access is Act 1 only, will apparently last a whole year before release in 2021. Guess I won't really be missing out on anything by holding off for a while. Appreciate those willing to provide QA for Larian, though.

Last time they showed the game, combat was all turn based. It was probably the easiest/best way to adapt 5e to game format.

This is, honestly, what I've been hoping for. I love the real time aspect of the original Baldur's Gate, but turn based is integral to D&D. It just makes sense.

It'll also be great going in with a deep knowledge of 5e mechanics, and not having to deal with THAC0

Well, if you like Real time w/ pause, check out all 3! The PoE games are wonderful RPGs much more similar to the tabletop game kind. Creeperworld is just pure RTS fun.
