Is there anyway to make geexbox or a new application rip dvd movies into .avi files on a external hdd?

I would be just happy to get a nice working media center to play them on. You can do the ripping on the computer.

man copy protection is a joke.
and there already is a media center to play them on. its called Media player CE OR my personal choice, geexbox.
