Hacking anything a Wii 4.0 can do?

I updated my Wii to 4.0 a while back for the larger SD card access. Now I have been reading a SD/loaders for playing backups. If you have a standard Wii with firmware 4.0 is there any way installing the homebrew channel so I could use the loaders. I have been doing some reading and looks like I need to wait for bannerbomb but I just want to make sure. I don't want to mod-chip to worried about bricking my Wii.

THE WII IS NOT A KNIFE!!!!!!

I'm kinda new so don't take my word for it....

But 3.2 is the best Firmware and you might be able to "down grade" from 4.0 to 3.2 and I think there's a You-Tube video out there..SEARCH for Wii Down grader.

Some times its hard to find help here....But I try.

If you don't already have the homebrew channel... you're stuck for now. You have to wait for a new twilight hack or bannerbomb or bootmii.

A mod chip would let you play backups - but no other trickery.

new to the console scene?
never.. i mean never ever upgrade your firmware unless you are 100% sure of what you are doing.
same goes for wii, psp, ps, whatever.
