Depends on how you look at it. It would certainly be useful for me because I currently use a piece of wire. The jig would make RCM so much easier...

You can buy the jig wherever you want, why wait for tx ?

Because it also has the dongle, so I won't need a computer either (I don't own an Android phone). Ease of use and both current and planned features of the pending OS. Whether or not open-source catches up is irrelevant. I still use a Gateway because of the cheat engine.

Correct. Another reason I decided to order it. It makes EVERYTHING easier for me, without risking auto RCM.

I don't think so because of images showing a boot error icon when theres nothing on the sd

oh right, i did see that in some snapshots. another reason to skip preloading the sx os, would probably to ship the kit out faster.

We dont know how it operates, if it just shows up as removable storage with drag and drop or if you have to use tx software (not released) to push it to the dongle

The question I have is, Is the missing .dat file the initial payload or is it the key? If the key is needed for the dongle itself to work (and not to simply decrypt/activate the OS on the Switch), then a lot of people swearing that the OS would be hacked on day 1 are going to have to eat crow...
Edit: either way, my reasons for the purchase would still be valid.

The os is required to load other payloads going off the YouTube video they made.

I think its part of the hardware. I had an old R4 that had the exact same icon when nothing was on the sd card
