Homebrew Any hope for Mac users? I'm on MAC OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 and have no idea how to open YATA+ or CTT.

I really want to make some designs, and I can run foobar2000 per Wine easily, but YUTA+ or CustomThemeTools don't want to open even with .NET Framework 4.5 on WineBottler.

If stuff doesn't work well with wine, sometimes you're better off using it in a Windows virtual machine using VMWare Fusion or similar (there are free alternatives I haven't tried). Or looking for alternative software that will work on mac, but I'm not aware of any for those theme apps.

As Hippy Dave said, you're best off running Windows in a VM. VMWare/Parallels are paid solutions, or you could try VirtualBox (free). Or, set up Bootcamp and run Windows natively.

I'm on Mint myself. VirtualBox works rather well (not sure if it's also on Mac) for Windows XP.
I used VirtualBox a few years back to run XP on OSX. At the time it actually ran better (performance wise) than VMWare/Parallels.

Yeah, I tried it some time ago but it crashes when I try to click on Open/Import/Export et cetera.
What do I have to tick, copy it and all files ''to the app bundle'' or ''in the same folder''? I have no idea what's the right one, I wish knew if there are instructions.
When it comes to programs and coding stuff, I have a bad habit of doing everything myself, which means hours of trial and error.

It works fine on Ubuntu with Wine 1.7.44 for me.

Don't use .NET 4.5: use Mono or .NET 4.0 instead.

I see, I always used .NET 4.5.
Guess I'll try 4.0, but wait, I see you are using YATA+, doesn't it need Windows Media Player? I have ticked it on Winetricks, but the WMM-install screen is searching for updates online and crashes then.
So much trouble for such a simple thing, sorry if I bother you all :/

EDIT: Man, Windows Media Player not Movie Maker.

I don't understand why people keep using .NET framework for their project instead of any cross-platform framework such as Qt... C# is even similar to C++!!
Anyway, why WMM? :wtf:

For .NET Framework: Maybe that's just what they were taught, or have been using for so long?

Also it actually needs Windows Media Player instead, as said on its thread.

Well, I corrected my post (I feel so bad for typing in Movie Maker :glare:), and I know this sounds dumb, but well, should I copy YATA+.exe to the ''App bundle'' (I guess this means the folder where YATA+.exe is in or the Application folder), or ''to the same folder''? This is so strange.

Try PlayOnMac, it's easier...

So, tried everything you all mentioned, I'm extremely thankful, as the yet another theme application says, my body ''is ready'' for YATA+, but is there a work-around to make Pixelmator.app be my standard editing application?
Thanks, none the less! I wish there would be a version without that .NET Framework that doesn't require the Windows Media Player.

@SylverReZ, I also heard one of the Prince of Persia games was so unfinished that it required the "24/7 online" drm so a puzzle could be done and the game could be finished. And that when the Ubisoft servers were closed the (cracked) game was impossible to finish or something like that
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, That's extra scummy. Ubisoft nowadays ship out incomplete games like Skull and Bones which was being worked on for nearly a decade now.

I like that games can be fixed after the fact, hate that it's being abused via beta tests... And DLC... I was a 7800 owner back in the day and loved Impossible Mission, turns out I couldn't beat it because it was actually impossible lol

I never knew about it at the time but a fixed version was available but you had to mail in your broken copy lol
