Sorry if this has been posted to death about, but I wanted a good answer before I threw down 40 buks on a DS2. Can DS ROMs run on any other flash carts? Are they all blocked? Does the DS2 still work for the 3DS? Where is a reliable trustworthy merchant that I can buy one from? What do you guys recommend if the DS2 isn't top pick for you guys. And lastly, what should I expect in terms of use and functionality. Thanks in advanced guys!

Most carts nowadays do not have proper support/updates.

If it's not in that list, don't get it. Even if clone carts play ROMs now, they'll likely get little to no updates. Save yourself the trouble and get one of the recognized-good carts first.

You might be surprised how easy it is to get ROMs running on a flash cart that still has support/updates. It's pretty much that you stick some files on the MicroSD, then drag and drop your ROMs onto it and they show up in the list to run.

Wow, awesome post! Just a quick question, does the DS2 run any better than the R4i Gold, does the price point really distinguish the difference between the two cards? And who can I trust giving me money to for a flash cart?

I have both of them and they both work pretty well. The DS2 has advantage of having nice features like RTS (Real Time Save, which allows to save & resume game at any moment). Plus, the DS2 has additional plugins, which allow various emulators to run, so I can play GBC and GBA roms on DS2 as well.
Personally, I prefer the DS2 and my R4i gold just collects dust.

Buy from nds-card.com DSTWO gets updates faster has a GBA emulator better interface. R4i Gold does get updates but slower it can't play GBA games R4i Gold is 16.99 DSTWO is 40.99

The DSTwo is the only cart that has never needed a new hardware model to update. That alone is worth the price, since it means you don't need to buy flash carts repeatedly when they stop being able to update. In addition it has more features like text reading while a game is running and junk like that.

Wait a week or so (I hope in that time they get a new batch) or just ask them to TRY the flashcard several times (on a 3DS*) before sending it and that's all you need. DSTwo is a beast. Shame they got a bad chip batch and has had trouble for the last months. But besides that, its all good.
