Hi guys, I have already bought and used SX OS on my switch, however the SX PRO has recently come back in stock and I have purchased one as I want the freedom to not always use my PC to inject the payload.

How do I switch to using the PRO dongle ? I already have a SX OS licence on my switch, will there be any conflict?

Thanks!!

You don't need it - you can just use an android phone or tablet and NXLoader. As most people are more likely to carry a mobile with them - it's easy to do it that way, you just need to use the correct cable from your mobile to your switch - boom - job done!

No conflict at all and you have spare license on dongle.

I don't have a android phone or a jailbroken iPhone......so if I plug it in will it just load the payload? Can I leave the licence on the dongle unused? and activate it for another switch if I buy another one in the future?

You could temporarily remove the license.dat and the license_request.dat and generate a new one, write down the pros license key from the album and change the files back. Now you can continue to use the SX os license and sell the pros license(or save it

Don't think that would work due to the console fingerprint. Each SX OS from a Pro or not is tied to that console.

You could just sell it to someone you know who has a Switch, non-hacked. You install the license on that switch, and then you use your Pro dongle on yours without a problem.

not the fingerprint. the sx os licenskey that gets displayed whe you open the album. it should be possible to use the SX Pro key to aktivate a SX OS via the PC

get a portable router, patch it and it'll inject the payload just like the sx dongle

I got myself a nexx wt3020f

it works wonderfully as a router and it injects the payload into the switch

You dont need to remove anything. Just use it normally. And when you get another switch in the future, you can use the embeded licence of dongle. Thats what I did.
Yeah, from everything I've read there's no way to "extract" the activation code from the Pro if you already activated a SX OS first on your Switch.

So I can just plug in the dongle and use it without needing to activate the licence in the PRO, then only use it when I need to on another switch? Thanks everyone for helpinng out!! I am just wrapping my mind around this :)

Exactly, use the dongle without doing anything besides booting the SX OS and its licence file will stay there. And when you get other switch one day, you can activate dongle’s licence file.

Great, that makes it sound so much less complicated as it is just plug and play.....!! Thanks again for your help :)

IF there would be any 'conflict', it would be only the license.dat
You probably need to change it to the new one.

Otherwise, no

That would be a waste of $40 since he already paid for a license. No sense in wasting the single-use license on the dongle on a system already licensed.

I don't think he'd be wasting the license, since he is already "activated" he just would simply not generate a new license. The dongle just calls on boot.dat to run. If he removed his license.dat file the os would proceed to generate his valid license and thus burn his one time credit on the license request file. Soooooooooooo if you want the dongle, get the dongle, if your switch dies and you need to replace it, now you're ready to activate again.

    Yeah but not like this.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's not like they're complaining that their Slurpee is 99% ice or something, but if the cocktail calls for "shot of vodka, shot of vermouth, shot of gin, shot of Campari, three shots of juice, squirt of lemon" and ends up being a thimbleful of booze, that's a problem.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the funny thing is cocktails in norway are only allowed to have 1 20ml shot of booze
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    so..... yeah
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
we're used to only having a thimbleful of booze

same thing if you want whisky on the rocks or something, you can't get a double
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but you could buy as many shots of whisky (or anything else) as you want and ask for a glass of ice and pour them in

    it's dumb

    Maybe.

There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.
  • Veho @ Veho:
But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".
  • Veho @ Veho:
Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.

Usually accidentally overdose of ibuprofen here is from people taking like cold medicine then ibuprofen for a headache and the combination is over what they need
