Hello. I am sure I am going to be told I posted this in the wrong place or something, but,
my o2ds was experiencing issues connecting to the internet, it said that a system update
was required first. I tried updating, an exception occurred:

An error occurred.
The system cannot
update.

The system will
now reboot.

I'm sure I forgot the exact words it said, I could look again, if it's important.
I decided to format it. (keeping a NAND backup, of course. (and Nintendo 3DS folder))
It formatted without an error, as far as I can see. It will now not boot up. I restored my
NAND backup, but it still cannot connect to the internet (view friends, etc.) All I can do
is send notes via Swap Doodle.

I've been thinking of purchasing a new 2ds, though I don't know if it's worth it this late
in 2ds's life/death.

Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can keep my system, yet
connect to the internet?

Hmmm, nothing seems to work. Safe Mode may work, but I have UnSafe Mode installed
ever since I installed CFW. I think. Any way to get it back?

EDIT: Tried to find another internet connection,
none that are public...

Try to system update by Recovery Mode and from a different public Internet source such as your nearest Starbucks (stay safe; wear mask & social distance).

If the o2DS refuses to update to 11.14U despite the above attempts, repair the 3DS firmware + custom firmware with CTRTransfer (Type D9) - CTRTransfer. Carefully read and follow the Instructions.

Hey, I got to step 14, it updated without a problem.
Is there any need to go on to step 15?
All steps must be followed to ensure the firmware is completely repaired.

15. Try restoring the save(s) anyway whether or not you have dsiware games.
16. Check that those five (5) TWL system titles are installed. Make sure DS(i) mode is working.
17 (Conditional). Look for the twlnand_missing_files.txt; if it exists, data recovery for those missing twlnand files is required.

Ok, I'll follow the steps.
Sorry, but I do not understand step 16...
Revisit Nintendo 3DS CameraHomebrew LauncherFBI. Looking in the Titles list, you should have those five (5) TWL system titles installed on the o2DS.

Edit - Ignore the 'New_3DS TWL_FIRM' as that's the version for the New 3DS series (n3DS / n3DSXL / n2DSXL).

My DSiWare games are there, do I continue?
(PictoChat, FlipNote, etc.)

EDIT: Oh, the default ones? Download Play, etc?
Those are there aswell.

Did you make sure to reinstall their CIAs back in step 13, and restore their saves in step 15?

Are any of those five (5) TWL system titles missing when looking for them in step 16?

If everything checks out so far where you did not skip or missing any of the directions, you would continue on launching those DSiWare games and determine if their saves are restored.

Yes, I reinstalled them all.
None missing.
I don't know which one to check for a save.
I don't play many, though I saw all my flipnotes!
Does that mean that I can go on playing?

That means your DSiWare saves were successfully restored and * that the DS(i) mode appears to be functioning as intended.
  • * Do make sure those five (5) TWL system titles are installed as listed in FBITitles.

Before declaring this repair job finished, look for these two (2) files on the SD card as noted in step 17.
  • sdmc:/gm9/out/<date>_<serial>_dsiware_000/TWL backup/
    • twlnand.bin
    • twlnand_missing_files.txt
The <date> and <serial> parts in that 'dsiware' subfolder will be uniquely named.

If they're not in there, then step 17 does not apply to you.

The only file I found was the missing_files one and it said that Nintendo DSi was missing.
But I see the titleID in FBI.

The dsiware_missing_titles.txt is a record of which TWL system titles and DSiWare games that were found to be missing or failed to be backed up into CIAs when the CTRTransfer (Type D9) did its initial repairs during steps 8–9.

That file is to help you to know which TWL/DSiWare titles you'll need to find replacement CIAs for in step 16. If Nintendo DSi™ was the only missing TWL system title and it has been found to be reinstalled (most likely from the system update back in step 14), then that means your o2DS as of now does not have any missing TWL system titles.

Our troubleshoot sessions has concluded. Good luck and half fun with your o2DS. For data safe keeping, start backing up your games saves + extdata: Checkpoint, JKSM, GBAVCSM

I hadn't heard of that before so I had to look it up, but seems like as long as you avoid going to "Proxy Settings -> Detailed Setup" then the exploit won't trigger, so you can still access safe mode normally.
