Hacking Can't update to 11.8 - any way around this?

My 3DS is throwing "cannot" update errors after the bar is 90% filled.
Any way I can either fix the issue, manually update it, or access online play on 11.7?
I currently am on new 3DS, 11.7, and Luma3DS newest.

2. System Settings → Other Settings → System Update
