Nintendo has released a handful of screens for forthcoming 3DS title Super Pokemon Rumble, as well as some new information about the game's features.

It's a direct follow-up to the 2009 WiiWare hit Pokemon Rumble, a straightforward arcade-action game which sees you take control of wind-up toy Pokemon, battling others in real time and gradually increasing your collection.

As you progress, the Pokemon you defeat get stronger. Eventually, you’ll get one with sufficient power to qualify for the Battle Royale – a free-for-all against dozens of Pokemon in a giant ring. Winning that moves you onto the next level, where you’ll face tougher and rarer Pokemon.

Written in Black and White

The upcoming game will play much like the original, and features all-new Unova region Pokemon from the recent Black and White games, as well as those from Generations I, II, and IV in Pokemon Rumble.

The appearance of Salamence, Groudon, and Taillow in one of the published screens confirms that Generation III Pokemon will also be present, so it’s a fair bet to assume all 649 Pokemon in the complete Pokedex will be available to capture.

Super Pokémon Rumble features additional game modes not present in the WiiWare title. Pokemon Collection Battle Challenge sees you face off against all the Pokemon you’ve caught so far, while Charge Battle pits you against waves of ten Pokémon in each battle.

It’s out in Japan on July 28th. So far, there’s been no confirmation of a Western release, though it’d be a surprise if a Pokemon game – even a spin-off like this one – didn’t make it to these shores. We’ve contacted Nintendo UK for comment.

Lol sounds like Wrestling with hundreds of Pokemon at once, I'll want to see a trailer of this first before deciding on it, looks cheesy by the screen shots.

You can already see how it loks on the wii so this shold be similar!

Yeah I could see huge appeal as an e-shop title but the fact that it's a cartridge means it'll come with the huge price tag and for a game like this I can't see how it'll be worth that.

If it wasn't for the widescreen, these screenshots would be indistinguishable from a DS game.
Kind of makes my brain sad after seeing the glorious 3D Pokedex models.

I really liked Rumble but I don't find this worth a retail purchase.
I agree, I hope the add some BIG changes to make it up worth the price.

Honestly, if there's anything I want them to change, it's to make it so that the Pokeon can level up and possibly evolve. I'm tired of having to give up my favorite pokemon because they are too weak to go into the later levels.

That'd be a welcome change, they'll need to add more incentives if they gonna charge full retail price.

I like the concept of Pokemon Rumble.
But combat was really bland. Lots of attacks were similar to eachother.
No evolving sucked too.

The main pokemon series is a morbid pile of crap these days, but hopefully they make Super Pokemon Rumble something i'd actually want to pick up.

Wow, they're selling it as a full-on retail product, eh. I enjoyed Rumble, and I might buy this were it a $8-10 eShop game, but I can't imagine this being worth $40. I'm sure enough younger Pokemon fans, though, will gladly bug their parents to buy it for them.

Shutup, no it isn't! I can't say I agree with you, the core series have been fantastic each generation.

I can't really say that I agree with you; Pokemon Black and White are the most streamlined core games in the entire series, and it really does the job of being a good sequel.

On topic, I don't see why they'd make this retail, unless there really is a LOT of content. Pokemon Rumble felt really empty.

*probably talking for myself here but..*

my ideal pokemon 3DS game...

has a very visable character with sprite shading..(not just a little short kid)

like this -

3D battles and 3D pokemon (not actually 3D..but more like CG)

pokemon created in this style -

and actually have the pokemon HIT each other on the screen!

how cool would that be?

they are on track with Rumble with the CG battles...but too many pokemon ._

Hi , I have an issue with this game. I bought it used (not new) from Gamestop as a gift for my childs.
It work fine but the previous gamer had make a savegame ,
so when the game start give me only the possibility for "continue the game" and not to "start a new game".
Anyone knows how start a new game in Super Pokemon Rumble ???
Thanks
