we moved on from the switch 1 to a new generation and still its either flashbang white or depressing black.
honestly I'm starting to lose hope of ever getting themes officially on this thing and honestly i didn't even find a convincing answer ... hell I'd settle for a wallpaper.
i guess this topic kinda faded away and people slowly accepted it but it triggers me every time i think about it

You got 2 themes, white or black 🤪

Considering the Wii, the Wii U and Switch 1 didn't get them.... I forsee the same result here unless able to be modded I'm afraid.

And as the old saying goes.... Get out of your menu and play a game 🤷

hell yeah dude

First there will be years of general system stability improvements to enhance the user's experience.
Once Nintendo sees the interest in the Switch2 fading, they will probably release something like themes.

While I'm not feeling enthusiastic about hopping to the whole "Big bad greedy evil company" bandwagon, I have a hard time wrapping my head around on why they insist only Black and White theme, besides "killing identity and creativity by removing customization is the only thing more important, than money"... Maybe laziness...

But, I mean if money is the most important to them, they missing out on so much cash by not giving us more options for customization.

When will we get background music again?

The WU music was so good.

It still is. I ADORE that part of the 3DS (present tense becaue I still have a normal 3DS XL and New, I never owned a Wii U, unfortunatelly), but I can't help but think It would be a bit "out of place", since the Switch games have significantly "less fancy" menu effects.

One man can dream!! But I wouldn't get my hopes up. This president has the charisma of a rock. In the past, Iwata, for example, had so many colorful ideas and made things like "Iwata asks" and all those jigs, and all those ideas reflected on the consoles too. I loved the 3DS downloading screen. for one.

This president is boring and without a soul, but I DO hope that even a handful of themes and a lonely background music could be on the horizon (no pun intended) at the end of this year... One man can dream!!

Nope. The terms "Basic Black" and "Basic White" both imply that we'd be getting a theme shop one day, but it's been 9 years since the release of the original Switch and nothing happened.

Thinking that anything will happen after 9 years of radio silence is just cope.

I know for here I'm in the minority, but I just don't care or see the point as it just adds more overhead on the system resources I'd rather for a high end game go towards that. At most I'd probably appreciate some boot screen like past handhelds did with a jingle, but I like the fast, minimalist and speedy interface that is there now that's easy to navigate on a controller.

My guess is they looked at the 3DS and the theme scape there, and it was not profitable enough in their pocket to bother keeping it up as it just made no sense or they would have this time around.
