Anyone know if I can transfer games saves from ROMs and eshop games (from an R4i deluxe) over to a new gateway card with the omega firmware? About to pull the trigger on one since all the hoopla is pretty much taken care of since the brickgate days.

nevermind my question from a while ago, i gave it a swing, and it looks like indeed you don't actually need the gateway cart to do actual rom dumping.....can't wait until there's inevitably a way to LOAD said self dumped roms without using a gateway cart, but that's another subject entirely, and already heavily discussed/debated elsewhere on the forums.
It's 32GB. Damn that was really stupid! All I had to do is to press select to choose one of the games. The most stupid is that I knew about select button to be used, but somehow I was sure that if the square is empty that means it is not read at all.

Hey guyz, have some problem with emunand.
So i've made every step until this one. --- Updated red card, downloaded and inastalled system update for 3ds and thats it (in settings i saw gw3d 7.1 blah-blah-blah).
Then i restarted console and now i cant launch gateway mode with L in DS profile. It simply shows me menu with color and name customization.
Whats wrong? 3ds Firmare is still at 4.1.
Do i need format all my cards and have another go with installing gateway firmware and so on or its safe just to copy launcher file and try again with booting?

What? Yes. But you'll require a GW card for dumping games. It's their new anti-clone/piracy protection.
I have dumped a few already without a gateway cart, just running the launcher.dat via their exploit (using a dsTwo card to load the exploit from) I haven't looked at the dumps too in depth yet, but they are in fact being generated....I think the protections might come in play when you try and actually run them? Although I did see that there's a utility out already that strips the extra stuff that's in gateway dumps versus scene dumps.....

makes sense........although i have a bit of distaste for gateway, they've done a great service for the 3ds community as a whole with some of their tools (I feel a bit more safe having a NAND dump for example, even if it requires soldering to make use of it.....and I like being able to dump my own games as well, and if/when a rom loader to load stuff from SD comes along, i'll be the first in line, so I won't have to haul all my own games around everywhere)

I ordered a Gateway but currently I'm playing a game on a retail cartridge. I read that it's possible to dump retail games with a new function of Gateway Omega 2.1, so I asked myself if it would be possible to just dump the game I'm playing in order to use the dump+savegame on my Gateway. The thing is that i just rented the game and have to give it back in a couple of days and I'm afraid that someone who rents it after me, will erase my savegame before I can finish it.
So is ist possible to "dump savgames" by dumping the original retail cartridge or will the savegame just not get dumped at all so that I would have to start over again?

@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one -

I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version

I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!

I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
