I know that 3DS games don't work with the dstwo or acekard or any of the carts for that matter.

My question is whether they will work in 2D?

I mean can't DS users buy these 3D games? They just don't have the 3D experience.

Yes, there is nothing to stop DS/Lite users from buying 3DS games.
No, they don't have the 3D experience because they cannot play the games.

(I nominate this question for the "Most asked/answered question of all times" poll.)

Do PS3 games work in an PS1?

I have a Magnavox Oddyssea, Where can I get a PS3 emulator for my Magnavox Oddyssea?

Im sorry to say but I thought the cartridge itself would be backwards compatible. So for all the other DS/DSi/etc. they can play the other titles Oh well

The 3DS has pretty amazing graphics compared to the DS, it's like asking if PS2 games would work on a PS1, it's the same format, a CD like thingy, but it's completely different so it won't even detect it and the same goes for the 3DS's cartridges, if you cut the little extra bump on the right of the cartridge (it's only plastic doesn't really break the game or anything) the game would fit on a DS, but it wouldn't be detected since it's a completely different thing. I guess that's why they added that little bump to the games, so that some kids wouldn't be dumb enough to try and play 3DS games on a DS. xP

The 3DS is my first device so I don't know the major differences between all the DS's.

Im going to assume I cant buy a DS game to use with the 3DS?

You can, the 3DS is backwards compatible, all DS games will work on the 3DS, what I meant was the opposite.

That's not quite true. Save dumpers on flashcarts can find them.

I guess the way i looked at it. The 3D slider on the 3D to make it 2D. I assumed that a 3Ds game would work on a DS because you can play in 2D on the 3DS.

That logic makes no sense, just because you can switch off 3D on a 3DS game does not mean it can be played on OLD hardware.

No, the 3DS is a completely different system.

To simplify things,
DS - DS Lite - DSi - DSi XL (revisions of the original DS)
3DS - ??? (an entirely new system)

@SylverReZ, atleast wiimmfii went fine although people only use it for Mario kart Wii
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
At least if they ban you for cheating, get another Wii. They're cheap as chips.

Remember when RiiShop was a thing?
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
    not really
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
It got shutdown because somebody "accidentally" leaked the database for the amount of people using the beta.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
RiiShop is the laziest way of downloading Wii games. Did somebody not think of this through?
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
although i ended up accidentally changing my nand with no way of going back bc i didn't know you needed a gamecube controller to restore it (i have a wii minus/1.1, which doesn't have gamecube controller support)
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@BakerMan, I think you're talking about the recovery mode that the SaveMii used, and also was to restore softbricked systems.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
If your NAND was hardbricked, then just buy another Wii. Or go with the dirty NAND flasher method.
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
and if i find the sd card i have my NAND backed up on, i can not only restore the NAND if i solder the right part in, but i can also put my NAND on dolphin, then i can play dolphin online, like PMEX Remix or MKWii Riibalanced

    Brb
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@BakerMan, Oh yeah, that was a thing too. Dolphin does support Wiimmfi.
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
yeah you just need to put your NAND backup with wiimmfi on it
