I'm no expert in business dealings, but if I had a company I probably wouldn't announce my business failures publicly, it just wouldn't be good for my reputation and sales. These scumbags do it for the money, not so we can play backups.

Any why does everyone say Gateway team promised >6.x support? They may have promised they were working on it but i don't recall them ever saying something along the lines of they absolutely 100% confimed they would have higher than 4.5 compatibility after some time.

It doesn't mean they have given up. Just a few days ago somebody supposedly found a 6.2 exploit and willing to sell to Gateway. So 6.2 support can still happen.

They never promised anything and obviously they're very unscrupulous they're main business dealings are highly immoral and illegal, what else do you expect? You know what you're getting yourself into when you deal with companies like this, stating the obvious changes nothing. I suspect you're just pissed off you didn't buy a 4.5 3DS or you did and updated it though.

They're considerably sleazier than other flashcart developers, seeing how they... nope, no need for that argument again. Its old shit.

For the record, I am pissed that I updated beyond 4.5, but that's all irrelevant. The question is, should I stick with 6.3? Or should I update to 9.x?

They say it works with all firmware so it would be better for you to stay at 6.3.

No point in going to 9.x unless you're interested in buying a newer game. I would just wait it out if you're comfortable right now.

Has this 3ds xl firmware 4.x???

idk is it brand new and never used? you seem to of had it in your hand couldn't you just turned it on and looked

Ok, so I forgot to update the gateway firmware before updating the 3ds in gateway mode and now it cant load the gateway mode anymore. Can anybody tell me what to do now?

I have 3DS software version 7.1.0-16U

I have V1.80b on my flashcart.

When I go into settings and I click upgrade it doesn;t give me the option to upgrade the firmware.
Can my R4I 3DS RTS work if I want to upgrade my system to 9.0.0-20U?

probably i dont think any NDS cards where blocked from 7.x-9.x

If I have a 4.4 3DS, what is my most economic option to be able to load some modernish games onto it? I guess my budget goes up to $50+, but I can also deal with some hassle to get stuff working.

Is the gap between Gateway and MT and R4 that large?

Gateway is the best by a good margin over MT card, R4 is unanimously garbage and everyone who owns one now regrets it. Gateway is the leading innovator of features in the flashcard scene. Mt and especially R4 just copy them after they do it. It also has many features the other cards don't have (Mt recently copied most of the features but still cant copy 7.x encryption that lets you run games like Smash bros, Tomodachi life and Pokemon Art academy). Whatever you do DONT get an R4 deluxe.

You can get a GW here for $59 plus tax or you can feel free to shop around other stores (try to buy from an official distributor or a trustworthy reseller as there are fake GW's in the world) but prices will vary in the 70 and up range.

Awesome post! Thanks alot!

Is there a guide to basic things I'd have to set up to get the card running?

There are several guides for GW 3DS around this forum and on youtube. Feel free to ask questions in the "NOOB PARADISE" thread if you need help setting it up.

So simply, I had ripped the saves from my real copies of Rhythm Thief and Project X zone a while ago. After that I also ripped my own games to use on the Gateway.

But the ripped games won't recognize my saves. Further, I can't understand the numbering/naming that the Gateway does for the different games.

So, what do I do?
