Not sure if this is the right place, but I'm having a few issues with online play here.

Basically I have a few friends on my friends list, but they're never online if I'm connected through WiFi. I'm personally labeled as "Online" in the friends list (using Classic Mode on the EmuNAND), but none of my friends are ever "online" there, and thus neither on Pokemon X / Y (eShop edition) either. Other people from all over the world are online on Pokemon and are available for battles or other activities, but just not my friends.

I have a imported US console, they all have European consoles on 7.1 (system), one have a imported one from Japan, also on 7.1 (system). They can all see each other, but none of them can see me, and I can't see them.

I have tried with three different routers and tried setting the 3DS as DMZ. They do appear if we are together locally.

Does anyone else have this problem through Gateway? Is it the Gateway's fault or might it be something else?

My first thought is that this might be caused by the fact that you have an eShop copy of the game and not a retail cartridge. I can't say for sure, though, and this isn't likely to be replicated by many people here as there probably aren't many that bought Pokemon through the eShop.

Thing is, this happens outside the game as well inside the 3DS "Friend List" which I found particularly strange. They just won't appear as online anywhere (except locally) in any game or the Friends List (smiley face on the home menu).

I'll assume you have a Gateway, does friends in general work for you? Outside the game that is.

I haven't received my Gateway in the mail yet. Just taking a stab in the dark as nobody else has reported this same issue. Only other thing I could guess might be causing this is the difference in regions between your 3DS consoles, but as you stated, at least one other person has a non-European model, so that doesn't make a lot of sense. Hopefully 2.0 final will resolve this issue if it does turn out to be a bit more common.

I can't help since all of my friends have systems of the same region as mine, but I can confirm that the issue doesn't happen within people of the same region.

Nah, one of those raging and demanding a working >4.5 exploit will find one, as he/she will be fed up with not being able to play [insert hyped game which doesn't have to be pokemon here], start up ida, follow some random jumps and have a lucky epiphany.

What are you talking about? GW has compatibility with all retail cartridge ROMs except Animal Crossing and Pokemon right now, and those will work with 2.0 final, giving them 100% compatibility. They're simply focusing more on what new features 2.0 will bring rather than selling points.

Ah. Didn't recognize that from the wording. Only time will tell if another exploit can be found in later firmware. Gateway can't magically make one appear. And even if another is found, chances are it will be on 5.x or 6.x, and people on firmwares later than that will still be SOL. Golden rule is to simply not update or update as little as possible when it comes to the modding scene.

I mean the OP hasn't updated the thread since Dec 2.. and this is supposed to be the News, Updates and Support thread... I know that all updates are posted by the members in the last pages and that you can view them onnthe gateway page.. but it would be nice to have it on page 1. Just saying
