Because the way I see it, there's so much going on with the 3DS flash cards.. It's just really hard to see which one is a clone / copy of what. Or if they are the same company, etc. For example, MT-Card was going to release their firmware on Jan 1 as they mentioned. But after Gateway mentioned a delay, the MT-Card was delayed as well until Jan, 3. Either they are working together (MT-Card & Gateway), are the same company, or we can expect a Gateway release as well near Jan 3.
Companies have delays all the time, especially during the holidays. That doesn't mean they're the same company, have the same shared information, or will be released at the same dates. Of course, I would love multirom on my Gateway ASAP, but I doubt it'll be today or tomorrow. Usually when estimates like "early 2014" are used, they're trying to be as liberal as possible, and don't actually mean the first few days of 2014. Then again, this company isn't made of native English speakers from my understanding, so who knows.

they'd have to save every bit of game memory currently in use, each save file would be fairly big then, for a system like 3DS.

My Supercard DSTwodoesitwith a 1kb .rtf0 file.Wouldsomething similiarnot be possiblewith the 3ds?

(I see you already got lot of quotes/reply).
It's not your usual "RTS" features. It's not a "save state" feature.

Real time save here refer to "saving to SD card instead of the SPI".
You don't need to press "Home > X" anymore. It will read/write to SD card "in real time", when the game access the save data it will in fact automagicallly redirect to SD card instead of the cartridge's EEPROM.

I don't know if they will do the same with NAND-saving games. these games could save directly to MicroSD, not to SD. a tool would be needed to extract/inject save data to microSD cards.
Now that I think about it I guess you are right. But the GW Team should have chosen a better name for that feature.

I believe it will save to Micro-SD in both cases since that's the only technically reasonable option (as any automagic real-time redirection to internal SD may require per game patches). And it will provide great convenience boost as byproduct, since you'll be able simply switch gw card between your 3DSes without the need to copy game saves separately as with old good NDS flashcarts

Nope, going to need a thorough explanation. Pointing to a couple of pictures and saying "ISNT THAT ENOUGH?!" really isn't enough.

I have told snaiface the reason in detail.
However, it's only my own guess.
Maybe only time can tell the truth.
Just wait and see what will happen.

Nand-based saves
04/01/2014

Here is a quick video update to show we have nand-based saves working. We are still tweaking and optimizing multirom, so please be patient!

No rave background music? it didn't feel like a true Gateway teaser
Yes, I love the music of their videos

Edit: I fixed it:
